I'm going to a school reunion later and I have nothing to wear.

Due to life being shit and various mental health issues I've worn nothing but fat face tunics or dungarees since lockdown.

I've put on weight too so my old clothes don't fit.

I'm a now size 18 with big arse and legs.

It was touch and go whether I was going to go as everyone is quite rubbish at the moment but I've driver to fuck it and go.

I have time to buy a new outfit this afternoon but don't have much cash and only have access to a M&S, Next and Fatface at short notice.

The reunion is in a gastropub type place from 6. So not too smart but requires effort.

Please find me an outfit that does not make me look like a complete failure.

Also lovely. This is giving me hope 😍

That dress is lovely. I think for this event you should stick with a dress, because you're comfortable in dresses. I don't mean "comfortable" in a "slobbing around" way but "comfortable in yourself"/ confident way.

You can wear that dress with Docs.

HumourReplacementTherapy · 11/02/2023 11:43

I like the plain fat face dress and it will look great with DM's
Have a lovely time tonight Smile

what's your colouring and your fave colours to wear?

www.marksandspencer.com/floral-v-neck-midi-tiered-dress/p/clp60590448?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

This in the darker colour way with your docs

I hadn’t even noticed it came in two colour ways! But yes, the darker one is nicer.

itsmeagainagain · 11/02/2023 11:51

I'd go for something like this www.marksandspencer.com/cherry-print-round-neck-midi-waisted-dress/p/clp22553503#intid=pid_pg5pip48g4r1c3 with a biker jacket if you have one and your DM's with a small cross body bag

Cantonet · 11/02/2023 11:54

An alternative to a dress would be the M&S side stripe trouser ( look great on size 18's!) with a scoop or v neck t shirt & a navy or black jacket. Would you be more likely to wear trousers in the future?
Look at the fabfat40 Instagram page for inspiration as she wears these frequently

NoDairyNoProblem · 11/02/2023 11:54

@fruitstick how old are you? I wouldn’t spend that on the fat face dress and not convinced it goes with Docs either.

Tu Sainsburys can really come up trumps for dresses and had lots of lovely chunky ankle boots half price or less in store yesterday.

MrsR87 · 11/02/2023 11:55

There’s some lovely things in the links posted so far. I would also second the Tu at sainsburys suggestions. They had some great dresses when I looked a couple of weeks ago and will be more
budget friendly 😊

itsmeagainagain · 11/02/2023 11:58

yes yes to TU I've had lovely dresses from there including a knitted black dress that I just wear chunky boots and tights with and my biker jacket and then just some big hoop earrings and nice hair - You've probably got something in your wardrobe that would do the trick.

fruitstick · 11/02/2023 14:11

I have returned from the shops.

I went dressed in one of my existing dresses, tights, docs and denim jacket. And a scarf.

I actually like this dress and bought it for a christening last year but wore it with smart shoes and a cardigan so thought it was too smart but it's really not.

I tried the Adele dress on but the sleeves were weird on me so I looked like a sort of 80s goth bridesmaid. It did not suit me.

They didn't have the knitted one and all of the others weren't that different to the one I was wearing.

They did have a beautiful biker jacket but it was £200 so way over budget.

However, I'm now happy with my outfit and have bought myself a new necklace, some new earrings and a mascara.

I fee much better about the whole thing.

Thank you all 😊
