Flaky skin help

Recently bought a very magnifying mirror as I have poor eyesight and it's been a game changer for applying mascara and plucking my eyebrows.
I have t zone oily skin and never use moisturiser as I thought it would make the oiliness worse.
Have bought some Maybelline Perfector 4 in 1 and quite liked the blurry appearance it gives to my skin. Omg happened to look in this magnifying mirror today and my skin is flaky on my chin, nose and middle forehead! All the oily areas. Obviously with my poor eyesight I can't see it but with this mirror it's horrendous.
Any recommendations for a moisturiser that will get rid of it?

Nope, first of all you have to slough off the dry skin. No point moisturising until you do this.

Get yourself some dermalogica daily microfoliant or similar that is not too harsh on your skin.

My routine is Clinique all-in-one micellar water I use in the morning, then rinse off in the shower, use daily microfoliant 2 times a week and my skin is fine. Moisturiser is light, my favourite is Bodyshop Drops of Youth.

you can either use a exfoliated with little beads or a toner that has acids (do t worry it’s not torture)

however first of all is your skin sensitive or do you have rosacea or broken capillaries or open skin?

If you have oily skin then a heavy moisturiser isn’t going to work

You need to gently remove the dead skin before applying a hydrating skincare product

The silicones in the Maybelline product will be exacerbating the flakey skin.
Do you cleanse with a flannel? That should be enough to exfoliate dead skin away gently. Otherwise an acid toner does the job that those gritty scrubs used to do but much more gently. Then use a thicker moisturizer for a bit.

Yes I have broken capillaries on my chin.

@PAFMO I use wipes 🤦‍♀️
Would a flannel do the trick then?

So basically I need to exfoliate daily until the flakey skin is gone, then maybe a couple of times a week and use a light moisturiser. I'm using Simple light one. Would that be ok?

A flannel would be better, definitely. Wipes aren't great for skin.
You won't need to exfoliate daily, cleansing with a cream, hot water and a flannel will do some of that, then if you need more, a gentle acid toner a couple of times a week.

Oily skin can also need a moisturizer, often more oil gets produced when the skin realizes it is dehydrated and it then becomes a vicious circle. I'd have a go with something very gentle like La Roche Posay Toleriane (it's what my daughter uses, she has combination skin) or one of the Cerave range.
