Footner # should 8 do it before skiing?!

Ok I know this is a bit of a niche question - but for those who have used footner socks:

Should I use them today, when going to be skiing next Saturday (ie on day 7)? I always get pain in my ski boots, but can minimise it by making sure there’s minimal hard skin which causes pain in my soles. I normally use a pumice stone but you do need to do it veryregularly in the few weeks before, and I haven’t done this as much as I should have.

i remembered I have the footner socks and could put them on today. I’ve never used them before so wondered if it would be crazy to then be skiing on day 7; will they be too sensitive or is it a good idea?

Hoping someone can help with this slightly odd question!

It takes my feet til about days 8-10 to start peeling. Do you want to risk it happening while you're away?

SnowFeet · 05/02/2023 17:31

Oh does it @milkmonitor20 no I am trying to avoid that because skiing can be rough in your feet anyway. I should have started it a week ago really so I’m annoyed with myself!

Oh Jesus no don't. Wait until you are back.

I'm never doing it again. I'm a very regular tennis player and the skin was shedding for weeks afterwards while I was playing matches. It also made my feet quite painful as I had no tough skin left.

plumduck · 05/02/2023 18:14

Nah, it's too late, you'll be peeling like a snake.

TheChosenTwo · 05/02/2023 18:15

Never done these before but I honestly think there should be areas of harder skin on your feet, it’s where you need the extra cushioning! To be fair my feet are pretty smooth and free from any areas of visible hard skin. But if you’re going skiing I’d think the last thing you wanted to be pissing about with is your feet!

LynneBenfield · 05/02/2023 18:16

Agree with the above. It takes ages for the peel to start and leaves very fresh, raw skin underneath; to the point where I had to break in a lot of my harder leather boots & shoes again (blister central).

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 05/02/2023 18:19

I wouldn't - it leaves your skin soft and tender so ski boots will be agony.

You could try one of those skin-grater things if you don't think a pumice will be enough.

Thanks all - yes I thought this might be the case!

I’ll hold off on the footner and look forward to it perhaps a couple of weeks after we come back…
