Cutting back on alcohol, what affects did it have on your face & body?

I drink a couple of glasses of white wine in 3 or 4 nights a week (I've been good this week & haven't had a glass since last Saturday). Thinking of cutting back to just weekends & hoping it will have a positive effect on my appearance.. And if I switch to red wine will this be better for my skin/health?

Giving up alcohol hasn’t affected by skin but I have experienced many other benefits.

Absolutely none.

Cut back radically and it made zero difference as far as I can see. But I am 51 and lol permanently knackered anyway…..

Same here but also replaced wine with sugar so that probably didn't help

Well I was going to post and say none at all. Then I went and compared a selfie from now with a photo before Christmas having done Dry January and actually my skin was a bit redder then and a little more tired looking.

No difference. Clearly I wasn't drinking enough!

my face went from Smile to Sad

I’ve been pretty much teetotal for the last 14 years (maybe the odd pimms in the summer kinda drinker) and I regularly get told I look far younger than I am. Possibly good genetics too, but I’m certain the fact that I don’t drink or smoke helps keep me looking young and fresh.
someone told me they thought I was 27 last week, although I’m sure that was a bit of an exaggeration, they were still shocked when I laughed and said my dd was 19.
alcohol honestly serves no good to us at all. Just empty calories. Save it for a treat

I've not drank for a year. Actually haven't noticed any physical effects but it's so nice never worrying about what I said, never having a hangover etc. I'm so happy I quit.

I lost weight. I eat so much crap when I drink.

The biggest effect was on my mood. I felt lighter and happier. I also slept better. God, I hate alcohol. I think it’s the single most overrated thing in the world (with the possible exceptions of Paris and the film Titanic!). It makes me so happy that the young drink less. Public drunkenness, especially in town centres at the weekends, makes me so ashamed to be British.

Thank you & well done! Great to read about the gradual improvements!
