Most moisturising foundation - medium coverage

what's the most moisturising foundation you know of? I need it to be thicker to cover some flaky bits (ie not Bobbi Brown Serum foundation as too thin) - but it really needs to be moisturising and dewy (but not glowy - the shimmer bits irritate my skin).

I'm not asking much, am I?

Hydraluminous N7 or Erborian BB cream would be my current holy grails.
I have a full bottle of the Bobbi Brown you mention and I really dislike the slimy texture (have decided "serum" foundation is not for me- I also tried to love, but failed, the MN favourite Bourjois Health Mix because of its slimy texture.

Can I ask why you've got flaky bits? I'd work at sorting that out, then your foundation should just stay on your face whatever type you use.

It's not an immediate fix , you need some kind of AHA cleanser and serum but a week's use should give you results.

The No7 Glycolic 5 minute serum is great for banishing flakiness. Use a hyaluronic serum and a rich moisturiser and your foundation should go on flawlessly

To answer your question, Hydraluminous is fairly good but it's not full coverage. Moisturising formulations tend to not be that heavy in pigment.

Thanks - I'm wearing the NO7 today, and it's a bit itchy but won't know until later what it's done to my face . I have the redness Erborian CC cream and don't hugely rate it, how does the BB compare (if you know both)?

Long drawn out saga, possibly eczema/allergies/rosacea/seb derm - dermatica and skin+me unable to decide so waiting to book a private dermatology appt

whatever it is my skin barrier is kyboshed and am only using avene anti redness products (plus trying most recent skin and me which is a rosacea treatment in case it helps)

Have you thought about a tinted moisturiser? The one I use gives what I would call medium coverage.

I swear by NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser. I've found nothing that comes close for a healthy, dewy look: https://www.narscosmetics.co.uk/en/makeup/face/pure-radiant-tinted-moisturiser

I do notice that if I have dry patches it doesn't sit as well there but generally I love it. I tend to put on moisturiser/sun cream first then the NARS tinted moisturiser on top.

It's quite expensive but you can normally find offers elsewhere online, I just got some from Boots online for £7 less than the NARS website.

If you can, I'd recommend going to a NARS shop/counter and bringing a pocket mirror then wearing it for a few hours and seeing how it really looks (esp. in natural light) and if it's the level of coverage you want before you buy it. Those beauty counter lights are really deceptive! Avoid the NARS Light Reflecting foundation, in my opinion it absolutely does not reflect light and makes me look quite dead - I went for the equivalent colour I normally get in the tinted moisturiser and it was actually very different in natural light. An expensive mistake!

I went into boots with the same problem. Was using fenty, and as it's a matte foundation, it was sticking to all my dry skin. Had Estee lauder futurist hydra rescue recommended to me by a member of staff (she actually works on the fenty counter, but took me over to the estee lauder one to show me this). It ticks all the boxes that you want. I will be buying it again as I like the coverage and consistency.

I'd not rely on a foundation to do the job a moisturiser needs to do. If your skin is dry and flaking I'd focus on hydrating that and then compliment it with a foundation suitable for dry skin or a tinted moisturiser.

I have similar skin so can empathise but I find the Eucerin 5% urea facial cream a godsend. Foundation wise I'm lately using NYX born to glow which I think is great for the price. I also mix it (or any other foundation I use) with a few drops of the Simple Hydrating Booster serum which is a few pounds and mixes well with everything I've tried to give it some added hydration and a smoother application.

I tend to do a light base and then conceal only what I need to on top to avoid exacerbating dryness. A blanket coverage of foundation all over on my dry skin looks awful a few hours later even if it does look ok to begin with.
