Rosacea

I suffer from this only around my nose.
It had only been a problem the last 2 years.
I have tried various creams for it and although I does improve it at times it always comes back and can last for months at a time before any improvement.
It's really starting to get me down,it looks ugly and itches.
I am fed up of waking up with yet another lump and bump around my nose.
The creams I have tried are finacea (azeliac acid) soolantra (ivermectin)and more recently a subscription to dermatica for their rosacea cream,I've been using that about 4mths and not seeing any difference so cancelled.(it was too expensive a month not to see any improvement)
Can any fellow sufferers recommend anything?
From previous threads I tried soolantra which was always mentioned but although it did help it isn't clearing it up.
What is the next step I could take?I think i read about antibiotics?

I have rosacea the type 2 with the redness and pustules on my chin.
I was going to recommend Dermatica as that is the only thing that has sorted my skin out. Did you contact them and say you hadn't noticed a difference?
Are you using any other harsh products on your skin?
I did have Rozex which is Metronidazole from the doctor at one point. I didn't like the texture and it didn't really work for me but maybe it would work for you?

Hazey19 · 01/02/2023 17:40

Rozex 💯 honestly it changed my life. I was really really down about my skin, the GP prescribed this and within 3 weeks I would say it completely cleared up. I only use now occasionally if I get a flare up. I can’t tell you how bad my cheeks were before and nothing worked. Apart from this. Good luck x

I used to have quite bad rosacea, the topical treatments such as finacea and rosex helped somewhat. A fairly long course of oral antibiotics did calm it down a lot but can't do that forever. It doesn't seem so bad now ... maybe it's age, but (somewhat disquietingly) the improvement seemed correlated when my dog started having bravecto instead of topical flea and tick treatments.... I never tried soolantra but if that helps and you have pets it may be a consideration.

I used to have antibiotics but I didn't like the idea of being on them long term.
I saw an advert for Rosalique and liked you could buy a sample before spending out for a tube.
It has been fantastic- the redness is covered, no spots or lumps or itchiness. I only have 2 patches on my cheeks so a tube lasts for over 6 months. I can still drink red wine and have spicy foods and don't get a flare up.
Really recommend it

Quitelikeacatslife · 01/02/2023 17:56

When mine was bad oral antibiotics did work but take a while to kick in. Once under control I found neals yard wild rose beauty balm is great as night cream and always use Dermalogica spf50 dynamic skin recovery as day cream

Dippydinosaurus · 01/02/2023 18:23

Antibiotics worked for me too but I didn't like taking them for too long. After 6 months I got to a point where the lumps had gone and the redness had gone down a lot. I now just use soolantra each day and a preventative

Workbaseddrama · 01/02/2023 19:29

Speak to your GP there is a cream that works but it takes around 6 weeks before you see a difference. It's a chronic condition and needs medical management sadly.

BabyMomma2021 · 01/02/2023 19:41

I use rosex and it does work, particular for the bumpy texture, although the redness really takes a long time to reduce.
I also think mine flares up at certain times of the month despite using the cream so it feels like there is a hormonal link!

Starrr123 · 03/05/2023 08:50

@ellebelli what did u end up using? Its driving me insane! Mine is itching and annoying! Xx

Really recommend it

If you have any hint of coolness to your skin OP then this doesn't work sadly,it just looks yellow. Really hoping they bring out different shades. They do samples so if you try it I'd recommend getting one first.

I was thinking of going the docs to see about ABs but work is super busy for me right now that I still have not gone.
Tbh I'm just using up all my creams at once(so fineaca on nose and dermatica all over)it is probably not recommended but the redness and itchy has improved for now.
When it flares back up(as it often does)then I will go to the docs as right now i can live with it.
Plus when I do make the appointment I want it to be at its worst.

@ellebelli was the soolantra no good ?

ellebelli · 03/05/2023 13:41

I think they are all similar.
They do work for a time but nothing has cleared it up completely.(for me anyway)

@ellebelli ok thankyou for
ur reply.
what suncream do u use?

Isadeer · 03/05/2023 15:53

I started to get this along with other peri menopause symptoms so I'm wondering if HRT helps or if that's a long shot.

Mine is triggered by stress. I don't mind the redness but the lumps, like hives or pustules, are the worst thing. They can disappear as quickly as they come but sometimes linger. You can just wake up with it out of nowhere in the morning and the first thing I do is check.

I dropped my extra vitamin D supplement as I was told this can make it worse. I've also done derma planing this week and my skin is lovely, but I would advise caution as apparently it can make it worse in some cases.

ellebelli · 04/05/2023 09:58

I'm 45 so it could be related to peri menopause.
I know what you mean about the random spots appearing overnight!
Usually a horrid sore yellow blob right on the end of my nose!

Oh and I take vit D, maybe I should stop and see if it helps(about now would be a good time to stop anyway)
