My turkey neck

Turkeyneck101 · 30/01/2023 14:08

So I'm 57 and have lost some weight, plan on losing more but my turkey neck is getting more pronounced as a result. I HATE IT. Its not that I want to look 20 ...but I just hate this bit. Believe me there is plenty that could do with being tweaked so I'm not looking for perfection.

For anyone in the know is it worthwhile doing non surgical treatments or should i just go the whole hog and do a neck lift with or without a lower face lift ?

Honestly don't know if I have the nerve to do a surgical facelift but do t want to waste money on non surgical that only give a tiny result when I need something more substantial. IYSWIM.

Picture enclosed.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I've just seen this. My neck is very similar. I have tried non surgical treatments such as morpheus 8 and profhilo, nothing seems to work. I caught sight of my neck earlier today and felt so depressed, I'm seriously thinking of something a bit more drastic..

katesbushh · 25/02/2023 22:00

Have you tried microneedling?
I've had some good results on clients with targeted microneedling.

SleekMamma · 25/02/2023 22:02

The right type of Lazer and microneedling should work

MonkeyMindAllOverAround · 25/02/2023 22:02

Face yoga?

Wagsandclaws · 25/02/2023 22:58

Hello, ok so I tired Morpheus 8, threads, profilo and basically spent a fortune.

I lost 6 stone in my late 40s and had a severe Turkey neck.

In the end I gave up and but the bullet with surgery. I found a surgeon who does neck lifts under a local as that's what I preferred.

He wasn't the cheapest and I have seen some lovely results with surgeons that were cheaper but I went for him as he does a lot of these types of surgery's and his results are amazing.

It took 4 hours and I got driven home straight afterwards. Recovery time was a few weeks ( I had a lower face and neck lift ) and I have to say the results are nothing short of amazing.

For me they've been life changing. I have confidence again. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Attached photos are firstly of my neck before the surgery. The second is taken 6 hours apart Just before surgery and driving home in the car ( my daughter drove me). The last one is of me now. My neck and lower face are lifted and look like they would have done 15 years ago I suppose.

I'm a member of a fb page that has thousands of members and recommends surgeons with before and after pics. It's called U.K. and abroad facelifts. Good luck 😊

Thanks for the feedback posts, thought my post had gone under the radar completely.

I think I will do some microneedling generally speaking anyway but think that it and face yoga wouldn't be powerful enough for the landslide that my face has become.

Thank you so much for the pictures, I think this is how I need to go in reality...I'm losing more weight so the issue will only get worse....age, weightloss and gravity don't appear to be my friends.

Apologies I haven't grasped how to do the individual quotes and personalised responses yet. But thanks for the replies (...and additional photos...brilliant result, you look amazing).

No experience of this myself, but from my limited knowledge I think a neck/facelift is the best way to go.

I think you can spend thousands on lasers, fillers, etc with little to no benefit. Personally I’d be looking to get a neck/face lift as it will absolutely work and the results will last.

Lorry Hill on youtube if very interesting and talks about her own facelift.

I think the reality with this is to either get a facelift or accept it, move in and find other stuff in your life to concentrate on. No judgement - I haven’t made up my mind about which one I’ll do when the time comes. I’m a bit jowly. 😬😆

Turkeyneck101. Did you go for anything? I'm the same age as you, detest my neck ..plenty of other things could be improved too but I think if I were to have a neck lift it would improve my confidence alot.

Hi cittigirl, no I haven't done anything as yet. A relative has been very unwell and I am helping out so haven't even had time to think about it too much. Seems a bit shallow to be focusing on my looks during these sort of circumstances...but also ' you only live once' as well, if that makes sense.

Saw a recent picture of me . ( i hate having my picture taken) Due to age and added weight my face has got rounder as I've aged so I'm assuming if I continue to lose weight it will only add to my already grizzly turkey neck...so if, as I suspect, it gets worse...some sort of intervention will definitely be required. Current thoughts...only surgery will make a discernible difference.

I have heard Ulatherapy is good for aging necks. It's really expensive, however I don't know anyone who has had it. Googled and there are plenty of positive stories. I am tempted!

Ive had a very recent bereavement so I know exactly what you mean about it feeling shallow but yes we only live once and should do what makes us happy.

Farmageddon · 14/03/2023 23:30

Unfortunately, surgery is really the only way to get a satisfactory result. Other things like Ultherapy etc. may slightly improve things, but results tend to be minimal - they are more used as prevention in younger patients or maintenance.

And I don't think it's shallow - most people who opt for facelifts etc. only want to look like themselves about 10 or 15 years ago. It can be unsettling when we look in the mirror and no longer recognise ourselves. Most people aren't that bothered by wrinkles, but when our face shape starts to change with jowls and turkey neck etc. it's harder to accept I think.

We hear and see the horror stories about celebrities getting excessive surgery and looking ridiculous, but if you look on plastic surgeons websites the vast majority of their patients are ordinary people who end up looking like themselves only slightly improved.

Also, there are new techniques where some surgeons can do a facelift under local anaesthetic with the patient just under sedation, so no general anaesthetic needed. If you want to go for it, do your research and find a very experienced surgeon.

So… I’m 36 and have the same neck. My whole face is drawn and people often ask if I’ve been ill/ not sleeping. Someone said it looks like I haven’t slept in years… I don’t even have DC, it’s so depressing. No one else in my family is aging like this. I’ve gone from slender with full cheeks to looking gaunt and I feel like I just depress people looking like this, and am depressing myself. It’s almost horrid looking in the mirror and seeing this face! No health issues either.

A few years ago I might have thought it seemed shallow to get surgery. Now I’m genuinely depressed looking like a crypt-keeper and feel surgery may be the only way ahead. Am a bit short of annual leave at work though!

This sounds trite but my aging really accelerated when several close ones died in a quick succession. My face reflects that sadness and I’m sick of it :(

RichardsGear · 15/03/2023 00:00

I feel the same about my jowls and crepey neck. I could do with losing about three stone but imagine if look even more droopy then (I'm 50).

*@Wagsandclaws fantastic result! How much did that cost if you don't mind me asking?
