A week out of a carry-on! Any tips?

We are visiting my family in a few weeks time for 1 full week. The country we are going to currently has very similar weather to the UK.
As there aren't any major things going on other than just visiting/spending time with them in the current conditions we have decided to stick to carry on luggage only however as I have thought about what to pack it's just dawned on me that I actually need a lot Blush

Toiletries/makeup/hair tools etc (my DGM doesn't own hair straighteners or the like so I have to bring my own).
So I am buying one of those lightweight airline approved backpacks to maximize what I can take but could anyone please help me make a basic essentials list for clothes and other items that would help me efficiently pack a carry on for a full week?
I'm also slightly concerned about how much clothes will take up as it's definitely jumper weather.

Thank you in advance!

Can you do a little bit of laundry while you’re there?

It depends what you own and typically wear, and what you will be doing … but I would pack light, soft warm layers: thermals and leggings that can be rolled up small, rather than bulky things like denim or big cable knits.

Wear boots, pack a smaller pair of shoes

All the mini toiletries

These are not very original insights, sorry!

Packing cubes that reduce down or even the vacuum ones if you have access to a vacuum where you're visiting for the way back.

Depending on the airport you could get some toiletries at the airport (deodorant, shampoo etc).

Your best bet is to chose items that you can mix and match, you really need to keep it to one pair of everyday shoes if possible

Bulky jumper, coat, jeans and boots or trainers for the plane.

Decant toiletries into small bottles. I’d just buy shampoo, deodorant and body moisturiser when you get there and abandon it at the end of the trip. Minimal make up if you’re just visiting family and not going out.
Leggings are very lightweight and don’t take up much space.

Then a few tops that you can layer.
Can you just wear your hair up rather than taking straighteners?

Ask if you can borrow outer layers ?

Wear anything heavy or bulky on the flight
Keep liquids to a minimum
Take multipurpose items e.g. lotion that can be used on face and body
Compression sacs (used for backpacking) squash things down and reduce the volume.
The clothes situation should be ok if you can do some washing in her house.

Some great tips on here OP and you can also check YouTube videos where people pack carry-on for several weeks/months (various weather conditions). So unless you have small children, you don't need as much as you think you do!

Check the handluggage size for your airline.

Large size hand luggage in frankly easy. you should fit one spare hoodie two spare bottom halves and 5 tshirts and at least one mid layer if you are going to a really cold location.

Underseat bag much harder for the week. You really can't do underseat if you also need a lot of toiletries/make up/hair straighter.

Be aware many you tube videos are talking large/mid sized handluggage not underseat. You need to search specifically for underseat

Assuming you're not going out anywhere that you need to dress up, wear heels etc:
Wear jeans, long sleeved t-shirt, your biggest jumper and coat plus boots and a scarf.
Pack: a thin jumper dress, a jumper, jeans or other trousers, another long sleeved dress, 3 t-shirts and a different coloured scarf. Trainers or different shoes if they fit in.
Personally, I'd keep most of the items black, grey or denim with maybe some colour in coat and/or scarf.
