Cool brands in your mid thirties? Everything is too plain or 'old' for me

Please help 😊I'm trying to dress a bit more stylishly and confidently, and to stop myself fading into the background like I have been.

I had a really rough two years with bereavements and a breakup, and just ended up wearing cosy jumpers and leggings as a bit of a comfort blanket. I've lost confidence in where to shop or what is 'right' for my age.

I love the quality of cos & other stories etc but I'm a bit uninspired by plain, block colours, loose fitting etc.

I'm short and small boned I'd like to wear clothes to show my waist.
Any interesting, fun brands to recommend please?

Thank you 😊

I like Finery when the sale is on.

MaverickGooseGoose · 29/01/2023 21:24

I really liked Sugar Hill but it's now mum uniform here so following...

Calphurnia88 · 29/01/2023 22:11

I'm a bit of a francophile, so Sezane, Rouje, Maje, Sandro, Claudie Pierlot (mostly sourced from resale sites... Even bagged myself a couple of bargain Isabel Marant pieces).

My high street go to is Mango.

Thank you SO much 😁I am frantically book marking brands

Traffic People does really nice dresses always with a fitted waist. I also loved Ted Baker but they’ve had a few seasons of strange stuff. Could be good again this summer.

Zadig and Voltaire, Rag and Bone and All Saints are all worth a look, I think.

TheDead · 30/01/2023 00:37

My sister is in her mid 30s & buys from sezane, zadig & voltaire, The Kooples, Maje, BA&SH, - she buys in sales or from outlet stores

For less pricey day to day things she likes zara, some h&m, some m&s

Blimey who recommended Manners London for someone who's short and small boned! PR post fail😀

What? The brand is quite literally for any shape.

🤨

I'd tell you where to shop.

But it would be TOO OLD FOR YOU.

Koicrap · 30/01/2023 01:01

Wunder, Monki, nobody’s child. Asos sometimes do nice print midi/maxi dresses.

I tend to trawl Vinted for bargains.

Did it make you feel better to post that?

What a horrible, unecessary comment.

Greensleevevssnotnose · 30/01/2023 08:53

Is it really? The shop in Brighton is lovely and quirky I have a few cardigans and jumper dresses.

AncientBallerina · 30/01/2023 19:44

Yes FatFace - no need for the snarky blush face @AnyFucker Don’t knock it til you try it 🤪
I shop there and Massimo Dutti a lot. Very different styles but there you go! People like different things for different occasions.
I even got a gorgeous check flannel shirt in M&S (pass the smelling salts)

Longwhiskers · 30/01/2023 20:05

I just did a big order of sale stuff from Ba&sh.
I sometimes order from sezane but not a lot.
I look at Thought and Rapanui but haven’t actually ordered from them.
happy shopping!

Calphurnia88 · 30/01/2023 21:48

@Longwhiskers is ba&sh worth the price? Their stuff is lovely but it's expensive and never seen it IRL.

Longwhiskers · 30/01/2023 21:52

@Calphurnia88 its arriving tomorrow so I shall report back! Always liked their stuff but this is the first order. I noticed their largest size is often a 3 which is a UK12.

Wiennetta · 30/01/2023 22:48

Sézane, Bellerose, Maje, Sandro, Kooples, Stand Studio, Isabel Marant. For jeans I love MiH, J Brand, 7, Hiut. Jumpers from Ami Amalia, Knotty Ones, &Daugher. Shoes from Grenson, Bhava, Solovair, DMs, Vagabond.

I look on the Outnet, Liberty, Selfridges for a variety of brands too. I like finding local boutiques that have a nice selection of brands - local to me is Biscuit but have a look in your area as finding a boutique is great to introduce you to new brands. Biscuit is online, I also like Lorna Ruby online.
