Please help me with my eyebrows

They're very sparse, more halfbrows than eyebrows as there's barely any tail part. Although I grew up in the 80s/90s I can't blame overplucking as no tweezers have ever been near them - it's just a family trait.

When I wear makeup I use a pencil (Gosh brand) and it's the perfect ash brown. However I've been looking for one of those felt pen type things that look like you can draw on individual "hairs".

I bought a No 7 one. Can't see it on my skin although the assistant assured me it was the right colour for me. The lady at Benefit drew some ok ones on but after an hour they didn't look any sharper than pencilled in ones. I bought a mascara type. Way too thick and it does nothing for the baldy bits toward the tail end as there's nothing for it to stick to.

I don't want to have them tattooed on so please, can anyone advise me on what to buy to enable me to draw on marks resembling hairs? Best effect so far has been with a fineliner pen from my art box!!

UKLash eyebrow serum is a total game changer. Often on offer. Thickens AND somehow darkens brows. I use it in my eyelashes too and receive comments on the length of them all the time.

LazyDoll · 27/01/2023 14:24

And I use a No 7 powder and brush to fill in and a clear mascara to shape.

ThoughTheFieldsLayGolden · 27/01/2023 14:25

I dye mine once a fortnight (using a cheap box-eyebrow-dye). Then I use clear mascara on them, and fill in holes with a pencil. I think this makes them look naturally bushy

poppym12 · 27/01/2023 14:36

I can't seem to get powder to fill in the biggest of the gaps properly, that's why I thought about trying to draw on some individual hairs.

Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroid problems can result in the loss/thinning of the outer third of your eyebrow.

But if it's not that, then the Kevin Aucoin precision eyebrow pencil is great. It's very fine.

This NYX pen is the best I've found for fine hair strokes. I think any of these types will soften slightly after a day's wear, but still looks like separate hairs rather than a filled in powder look

I was also coming on to recommend this one! I love it

I bought this NYC pen this week after it was recommended on another thread - total gamechanger for me!

squeak52 · 27/01/2023 16:42

*NYX not NYC, obvs

poppym12 · 27/01/2023 18:40

I thought about the serum @LazyDoll but decided against it as the hair falls out again if you stop using it. Plus I'm not very consistent with using things that I buy Blush.

I don't have enough hair to actually dye @ThoughTheFieldsLayGolden. This was apparent when I tried the mascara gel thing on them.

My thyroid is checked every couple of years @BlackSwan and is always within the specified range. I do have other issues that point towards a thyroid problem but apparently that's not the cause.

Thank you for the NYX recommendations. I'll pop to Boots to get if the taupe or ash brown would be better. Can you draw individual hairs @Lellochip ?

Thank you @Lellochip, @squeak52, @PattyBladell for recommending the NYX pen. I bought one today and although the colour (ash brown) is a bit too dark, I actually look like I have eyebrow hairs!!

I use Revolution Lamination Brow in Bronde from Superdrug, £7.99 usually.

VerveClique · 01/02/2023 20:44

I gave in and got mine micro bladed. It’s been life changing!!

kardashianklone · 01/02/2023 20:44

I had the same problem, plus very light coloured so most shades don't work for me. I've tried everything. The only thing that worked for me was microblading.

BruceAndNosh · 01/02/2023 20:54

Would you like a brow transplant OP?
My werewolf brows could be donor, if you don't mind 2cm long hairs!

pastypirate · 01/02/2023 21:01

Urban decay brow blade it's amazing

Duckingella · 01/02/2023 21:02

Sounds like you'd benefit from microblading

yodaandmedication · 01/02/2023 21:12

Have them microbladed, life changing

poppym12 · 02/02/2023 12:26

I've never really had eyebrows but now I'm older and wear less makeup I just look weird and tired all the time and somewhat unkempt Grin.

I've see some microbladed brows that look awful but I suppose I don't notice the good ones as they look natural. What happens as they fade?

Why can't eyebrow extensions be fitted as eyelashes can......

OP posts:
ShittyPeasantsFromHampshire · 02/02/2023 12:47

Microblading can look awful. But if I was someone with very sparse brows I'd do lots of nerdy research into finding someone who could provide a natural looking brow. They do exist.

sausage767 · 02/02/2023 13:03

Microblading doesn’t last forever OP. It’s not like the old fashioned tattooed brows that faded to awful green colours.

it just disappears to be honest.

I’m about to go have m8n3 touched up after 18 months.

Microblading is life changing for the brow challenged. I have a large scar through the middle of one eyebrow that no product ever sticks to.
