Ultherapy - who has had it?

Thinking about it as an alternative to fillers and botox and, ulitmately, rather happy that it is considered comparable to a face lift - with no surgery! I am 50 and looking a little saggy and tired around my mouth and jaw.

Has anyone had it done, what was your experience and what do you think vs other treatments?

I would be interested to hear about this as well - wanting something for a sagging jawline!

I had it in 2019 and it was the most painful experience of my life. I squealed and cried all the way through it. Had face and neck done. Was it worth the pain? No. Would I do it again? No. Did I see results yes but not massively

I had Ultherapy a couple of days ago for the first time. Pain wise I guess it depends on your pain threshold. It was more painful than I expected in places, but then in other places I could barely feel it at all. It's kind of like a prickly zapping of electricity over a small area (i think around 3-4cm) that gets stronger and stronger over around 4-5 seconds. Just when it might be too much it stops. I could manage the pain quite easily using mindfulness and body mapping, and I took max dose OTC painkillers beforehand as well as a numbing cream that was applied in the Clinic. I had two areas done, lower face and the top half of my neck. The last 15 minutes were quite hard but by then we had been doing it for over an hour. My advice would be to maybe split the areas over separate sessions, ie two areas, two sessions. An hour later, all the redness had gone down. I have some marks on my neck that just look like a tiny rash. I do feel a bit sore, as if it's bruised under the skin, but there are no bruises. I can see it's a little bit swollen around my jaw, but my husband can't see anything and i've been out and about, and no one has said anything. As for the results, I'm just going to have to wait a couple of months!

I should say, I'm 47 and I have pretty good skin . I just have the beginning of jowels and some saggy skin under my chin, as well as the beginning of a line around my neck. I don't have any deep wrinkles . Apparently it works best if you are younger/middle aged and still producing a good amount of collagen. If you are 60+ or heavily lined, I've been told that the results will not be as obvious, but there are a whole host of options that can be thrown at your skin these days!

I had it last April at cosmetic skin clinic, and personally I didn’t find it painful at all.
i wouldn’t have said I have a particularly high pain threshold. Really hard to say whether I think it’s worth it… it’s not a dramatic result for the money, but I didn’t go for it to look obviously younger (totally happy to look my age), more to invest in the future of my skin by increasing the collagen production now. I’m 48. Having said that. I did just have a look at some photos from sept 2022 before I had the treatment and I can definitely see a big difference in terms of skin looking tighter and fresher now. So maybe it’s down to the ultherapy?

As a follow up, 6 months on I would say the results are dramatic for me (you need to wait 6 months for the full results). It has easily taken 10 years or more off my face though I’ve heard this isn’t the case for everyone. My provider used a high setting and went deep as I was handling the pain well, maybe that’s why I had such good results? I’ve always had good skin, until it started ageing, maybe that’s another reason, who knows. Expensive, but I LOVE the results!

thank you for that update @ClaraFiddlesticks - looking into this as a treatment (interested in all non surgical / botox or filler options)
