Skincare for rosacea

A few months ago I developed a patch of rosacea on my face - right on my left cheek. Rather than going to the GP for some cream (I can’t get an appointment!), I’m thinking about getting some Dermatica or Skin and Me products. Does anyone have any experience with these or any other products that have got rid of rosacea?

What works for me is Soolantra on private prescription and using very gentle skincare. I use the Avene cleanser for redness and Cerave moisturiser.

I used the Soolantra every day for about 6 weeks initially and slowly the redness and bumps faded. I now only use it if I can see a flare up starting. It doesn’t get rid of any thread veins if you have those (you need laser treatment for that) but it helps with the redness and any spots/pustules.

Worth seeing your GP anyway, just to confirm that it actually IS rosacea.

Thank you - that is why I’d like to see a GP rather than try to get a quick fix! I did have similar symptoms when I was younger which did turn out to be rosacea, and got prescribed a cream that worked. I will persist with trying to get an appointment!

I tried every single thing for years till I just metronidazole from the GP. Gone in 6weeks. Don't waste your money! Lots of rosacea products made mine worse - cerave, LRP, etc

I developed rosacea last year. Went for laser treatments with Debbie Thomas, I described key triggers snd she recommended a routine to restore skin barrier and specifically targeting the rosacea patch:
Azelac spray (Sesderma)
Circadia rose ease relief cream (for the rosacea patch)
Byonik seal gel - light ceramide moisturiser

I still react to heat and cold weather but I think the routine works. The other day I got too bold seeing how clear the skin was and decided to start introducing actives again - which resulted in a huge scarlet patch an hour later. But the Circsdia product immediately calmed it down.

CeraVe improved mine to the point you hardly know I have a problem, it's amazing stuff.

My GP gave me azelaic acid (20%) cream for rosacea as well as antibiotics, these are working really well for me together with Cetaphil cleanser and La Roche Posay serum and moisturiser. I would certainly consider soolantra in future but at this point the cream and medication from the GP are doing the job

ChiaraMontague · 27/01/2023 15:20

The La Roche Posay products I use are in the Rosaliac range - Anti-Redness serum and both the light and rich moisturises (I use the rich one when the weather is really cold).

Cetaphil gentle cleanser and anti-redness night moisturiser.

Apparently Soolantra was formulated to work with Cetaphil moisturiser.

I've used both dermatica and skin and me. Both good but I preferred skin and me because at the time with dermatica you could only buy one ingredient at a time whereas with skin and me was mixed.
Anywho- both prescribed azaelic acid for the redness which was the bomb. Definitely recommend .

I have been using Dermatica for nearly a year now for rosacea, my skin has never been so good after trying all sorts and suffering for 30 years.
I had redness and then constant pustules on my chin. I am now all clear, chin so smooth and no longer swollen. The redness has really reduced and I would say is now normal.
I find looking in the mirror strange as I am so used to the redness and spots.
I am on Ivermectin 1%/ Metronidazole 0.75%/ Niacinamide 4%. I have a code if you would like to try, and you can delay your monthly tube I find I use mine up in about 5 weeks so delay each order. It also has a nice texture, not heavy or greasy.

I wish I had found Dermatica 30 years ago as some people have been really derogatory about my skin over the years.
