Is colour analysis worth it?

As in the title. I know there were previous threads about it. I pretty much decided I want to treat myself to be 'draped' for my birthday, but I can't decide whether to go with House of Colour or Colour Me Beautiful consultant.
The CMB is £180 and is nearer me, whereas I'd have to travel for HOC and it's slightly dearer at £220. CMB is the new tonal one.
Does anyone have experience with both and can recommend or not recommend? I've brown hair and eyes and wonder if CMB will just put me into one of the categories solely based on that instead of draping me well.

Ah what a shame @Potaytoes5

Was anyone else there or were you along? I think it helps if there's someone else there to see it too. I was alone but really did see the difference. Lipstick was a big tho g for me too to have clarity on what tone of red suits me. If you find something in your wow colour - try it on & take a photo for you to check on & you might see it differently. I found the style aspect of it particularly helpful for me to clarify what suited me & why certain things didn't, but you sound like my mil who says she knows already what suits her. If you're on fb, there are some hoc season pages which you may or may not find helpful

Hi all, I thought I'd update. So I decided to have it done in the end, as a birthday present. I ended up going to House of Colour last month, as it came very recommended on here...
Frankly I wish I hadn't bothered! I think she was overall right with my 'season' and warm vs cool, but I already had it right.
Half of those 'wow' colours she loved so much on me are not so great, she just smothered my face with lipstick to make it go with them. Honestly I think I know better without being a stylist.
I guess I had a confirmation of my season but it was a bit dear, I wish I had gone with someone local and independent or even not at all. Lesson learnt I suppose. I wish I had bought a nice coat instead :/

Do you mind telling me who you saw?

Just out of interest for those who have their colours done - do you sometimes find it hard to find clothes that fit your personal style/preference in your colours? For example, if you really shine in pastel colours but struggle to find edgier or alternative clothes in those tones? Or find that everything in those colours is never in the right style for your body shape?

Absolutely yes. There is sometimes bit of a battle between style personality and best colours. The key is patience though - you just need to keep your eyes peeled and build your wardrobe as you go along. Instead of waiting until you have an event then panicking!

I'd also add that part of the experience is learning your worst colours. So even if you cant find something edgy in your best colour, you likely will in a mediocre colour that neither makes you look great, or hideous! Then you can cheat it with a good lippy.

@mintich do you mind me asking if you had your consultation online or in person?

mintich · 17/07/2023 15:03

@alohalohavic70 I had mine online. It was very in depth and I'm so happy with it.

alohavic70 · 17/07/2023 17:16

@mintich
Thanks. I think I'll go for it then!

I did a colour and shape analysis with Style by Suzie. Transformed the way I dress and I have a lot more compliments now.

GettingStuffed · 17/07/2023 17:21

I did mine from the colour me beautiful book years ago but it only confirmed what I already thought. I'm a combination of spring and autumn.

They’ve updated their system in the UK now, so instead of just four seasons you’re split tonally. It’s great for people like me and you who you’ll have been in two different seasons previously.
