BUT, it needs to be reasonably priced. When I was financially secure, I used Bobbi Brown Oil, then discovered Primark balm to oil cleanser, but Primark is on the ban list. I use it with hot cloth. So, not overly perfumed and cheap. Any idea? I don’t like Superdrug vit e hot cloth cleanser. Any ideas?

Body shop camomile cleansing butter. It is amazing! I've gone through three tins already and I'm not a repeat buying holy grail product kind of person but it makes my skin feel equal parts clean nourished and moisturised

WoolyMammoth55 · 22/01/2023 21:14

Hi OP, I only do balms so can't speak to the oil situation but my current fave is this one, for £7.50

www.qandaskin.com/products/oat-milk-cream-cleanser

It's VERY good, gets everything off, leaves skin silky clean not squeaky clean.

Also I am ultra ultra sensitve and allergic, the Superdrug one bought me up a in a stingy blotch, and this passes the test on that front - all joy no ouch!

Frankcapa · 22/01/2023 21:17

Body Shop Chamomile Cleansing Balm. You can normally get it on offer.

han01uk · 22/01/2023 21:22

Body shop camomile cleansing butter

Inkey List oat cleansing balm is fab

Var57 · 22/01/2023 21:30

I used to use Decléor micellar oil but switched to M&S Pure. Its £10.

The lush one is excellent.

Triffid1 · 22/01/2023 21:30

I used almond oil for years - juat wash off with damp warm cloth.

It IS expensive, but I absolutely LOVE Farmacy Green Clean. Texture, scent, effectiveness all perfect for me.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 22/01/2023 21:34

@LifeInAHamsterWheel

I used to use almond oil to get my makeup, follow with face wash or face soap, then a rosewater toner

I'm another vote for Lush Ultrabland but haven't used that for ages

MadeOfSteel · 22/01/2023 23:11

I use Medik8 Lipid Balance Cleansing Oil. You massage it onto your skin, then add a little warm water and keep massaging. The water turns the oil milky, and then you rinse off.

I swear by oil cleansers now. This one isn't the cheapest, but it's worth it for me as my skin feels hydrated and soft after use. I've just found it with 20% off so might order my next bottle now!

sorry, Body Shop also on the banned list.
Our local boots stocks Inkey, so might look tomorrow , thanks everyone!

Sorry if this is a naive question OP but why is Body Shop on your banned list?

LadyOfTheCanyon · 23/01/2023 06:27

I imagine OP doesnt buy from the Body Shop ( neither do I) because of their trolling of JK Rowling.
The same goes for Lush and their promoting of chest binders.

OP I second the superfacialist oil - it's brilliant. Emulsifies to a milk and comes off with a hot cloth. And as far as I know, Una Brennan the owner isn't problematical in an ethical sense

The Inkey List Oat Balm Cleanser is good, reminds me of Elemis pro collagen cleansing balm, but without the scent

I saw that one advertised. I hadn’t heard of the brand until I saw it on Tik Tok. Seems well priced and gets good reviews.

Fozzleyplum · 23/01/2023 07:02

I make my own wash off oil cleanser - I learned how from a thread on here a few months ago . You can buy the emulsifier, polysorbate 80, cheaply from Amazon. That's the ingredient that makes the oil go milky, so it can be washed off.

Mix 1 part of the emulsifier to about 5 parts of the oil ( I use light olive), and any essential oil you want to use. Shake it to mix before each use.

Thanks @LadyOfTheCanyon. Just looked it up. Totally understandable.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 23/01/2023 08:50

@Wavescrashingonthebeach @PacificState thank you for replying to my question, I might give it a go I have quite dry skin so don't need a "squeaky clean" feeling.

EffortlessDesmond · 23/01/2023 16:17

DHC Oil is good, and last time I looked Superdrug were selling it off cheap.

Startuplife · 23/01/2023 16:19

I also recommend the Inkey List. I buy mine from Amazon for about £4.99 but appreciate you may avoid them.

Metabigot · 23/01/2023 17:22

Eve lom do a lovely oil cleanser that comes in capsules.

Also pai do a rosehip oil cleanser that's nice

TheHauntedPencilCase · 23/01/2023 17:28

Wow that's an awful lot of recommendations for body shop after you said it was on your ban list! I've recently switched to the No7 as trying to avoid BS and prefer it but we may have moved for different reasons so not sure if No7 is also banned for you. I will def be on the lookout for aldi though after this post!

LunaTheCat · 23/01/2023 17:56

The Ordinary Squalene Cleanser… cheap and brilliant!

Aworldofmyown · 23/01/2023 17:59

The No7 one is excellent and often on 3for2.

oceanbleu · 23/01/2023 18:04

Medik8 lipid balancing cleanser is good. I really liked the pai cleanser but I've RP it recently and don't like it as much. It has some citrus oil in and feel it's a little irritating on my more than usual sensitive skin.

MaryBoggintonTrotterSmyke · 23/01/2023 18:05

Superfacialist is good - my absolute favourite is Origins Clean Energy, not super cheap but it lasts forever as you only need a tiny bit.

DazzlePaintedBattlePants · 23/01/2023 18:07

M&S do some great balms/ hot cloth cleansers - I think it’s the Formula range.
