I'm wondering about the Ordinary's bewildering range of serums.

I've got to nearly 48 and my skin has always been my good feature. I work outside so there are some fine lines and wrinkles but I've always had a nice glow and fresh look. Just lately, my skin has really dulled as the perimenopause has hit with a vengeance, and I seem to have 8000 new lines around my eyes after being ill around Christmas and new year.

I'm really going easy on the make up at the moment (have to because of an eye issue), and I cleanse religiously. I am these days very careful about sunscreen, sadly was less so in my 20s and 30s, hence those lines. I know that nothing will take them away, but what should I be doing to try and get that fresh glow back?

The reason I mention the Ordinary is that I'm on a budget. From what I read it seems I need stuff with retinol and hyaluronic acid. Can anyone suggest a good starting point from their products available, and how I build them into my normal cleansing and moisturising routine? I don't want to spend HOURS on ir. For information, my skin is quite fair and can be a bit dry but there are no major issues. Thank you wise style and beauty women!

A prescription retinol might make you more likely to use it? I rate Dermatica but there's a lot of love for Skin&Me on MN -although looking at their prescriptions they seem very similar ( it's probably the buffering agents in the creams that people like or don't like, rather than the actual % of active ingredients.)

When people say "buffet", do they mean this? www.cultbeauty.co.uk/the-ordinary-buffet-multi-technology-peptide-serum-30ml/11363401.html

Yes! That's the one.

Fab, thanks. And is this one of the ones you put on wet skin?

Dermatica prescribed skin products have been amazing for me. I uploaded photos and the dermatologist worked out just what was needed. They also take care of the rate of increasing the strength and check in regularly to request more photos.
The creams last, I've often deferred a month as I still have cream to use up.

No trial and error so no waste.

This has been so easy, I gave up reading all of the complicated skincare information. I also only use very basic face wash and moisturiser ( superdug Vit E range) alongside so again saving money.

Hi have any of you who used geek and gorgeous had a discolouration of your hands? It’s like an oily bronze substance on hands but no sign of it in bottle. My palms sting a little but face feels ok. I’m baffled. It’s def this vit c serum causing it.

ExpatAl · 03/03/2023 12:15

Never mind. Just found the answer. Will wash hands thoroughly in future. I’ve been rubbing the left over serum onto my hands!

I'm a bit older than you but have the same problems. I'm currently using, and will continue to do so, Nip&Fab dragons blood serum, it is really plumping and smells amazing.

After there any hyaluronic acid/vit C combined serums or are they not a thing? If so does anyone have any recommendations?

I got one from Holland and Barret that I liked. Am no expert though.

Just going back to the original post - it really wouldn't have been a big stretch to hover your mouse over the word "Skincare" at the top of the screen and when you do, an extensive menu appears and one of the options under the text that says "Skincare Guides" is Regimen Guide

Just going back to this post... it really wouldn't have been a big stretch to hover ones fingers over ones keyboard, pause for a second, and consider, just for a passing moment... is this a helpful or necessary post.

I did a short course (work related) on the Ordinary serums, and spoke with the consultant after who said the best place to start is the following order: Hyaluronic, Niacinamide, Retinol, Saliclic acid. Spellings are questionable!!

I am pregnant atm so just using the Ordinary Rosehip oil and Hyaluronic and my skin is brilliant right now!! Highly recommend the rosehip oil.
