How many chances do you give a beautician before jumping ship?

hi guys I love having my nails done and in November I gave my friend a chance she’s only young but fully qualified anyway 1st set chipped the next day and she couldn’t fit me in before my event so I had to do a patch job then my 2nd set lifted and caused great pain now my 3rd set are just horrible the acrylic is bumpy the tips are wonky and the paint job is horrific! But I feel guilty for jumping ship and going elsewhere? Would you give her another chance?

(this is what’s on right now)

Oh dear. Friend or not she wouldn't be going near my nails ever again.

Surely she can see how bad they are herself. Did she actually do any training?

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 20/01/2023 15:23

Oh they’re really bad. Definitely would find someone else.

LookItsMeAgain · 20/01/2023 15:25

Based on that photograph, they've had their chance so jump now!

Those nails are awful (sorry, probably not what you wanted to hear). Has she been trained or is she learning from the internet kind of thing?

usedtolovenaps · 20/01/2023 15:27

They're very poorly done OP.

Mickymedic · 20/01/2023 15:28

I did pay every time £25 and a £5 tip! I send her texts and pics and she apologised for the chips but couldn’t fit me in, then with the Christmas ones lifting she didn’t respond until 2 weeks after Christmas and these are the ones replaced with but never given money off or free replacement!

I don't understand how she passed her assessments to qualify if that's what her work is like. They're not even straight. Sorry OP I'd be going elsewhere now.

CuteAsDuck · 20/01/2023 15:34

You have her 2 more chances than I would have!

Butwhytho · 20/01/2023 15:36

Err one. Those nails are dreadful! I can’t believe you accepted them at all let alone tipped her!!

Op focus less on your nails

and more on, harsh as this sounds, growing a back bone

Username6194 · 20/01/2023 15:45

My gosh. They are absolutely awful !

HermioneWeasley · 20/01/2023 15:49

I cannot believe you’ve paid for those, nor that she is so busy with other clients that she couldn’t fit you in, and also that she managed to get qualified!

stop now.

LookItsMeAgain · 20/01/2023 15:51

What I would do is find another nail technician and ask them to remove these abominations. Leave your nails bare for a day or two and go back to the new nail technician and ask for a full set of gel/acrylic nails. They should trim your cuticles too (yours are not done).
I would hazard a guess that this set of nails aren't filled in, in their current state, and will fall off before too long because they aren't fully on your nail bed.

I am risking being a total asshole for saying this but..... with such low quality work, how come she is so busy she could not even fit you in? Are all those customers just kindhearted friends like yourself or does she have 'real' clients?😳

Sweetnsourtoday · 20/01/2023 15:54

Jesus, was she hung over?
In past I've received a shitty service and basically made it known I wouldn't be coming back (she wasn't a mate though).

OP save yourself!

user982548025 · 20/01/2023 15:56

My four year old does nails like that

onionringcheeseypuff · 20/01/2023 16:00

If she couldn't fit you in then she doesn't need your money. Go somewhere else, they are truly appalling I am so sorry to say. I've no idea how your friend can be qualified in any way.

NothingButSpace · 20/01/2023 16:04

They’re really bad.

What type of training did she have? Was it an online course or something? 😐

Mickymedic · 20/01/2023 16:04

I think you’re right! I do and reading these makes me realise what a fool and pushover I am! And now that I think about it when my last ones were soaked off my middle finger nail bed was green she said it was bruised but now I’m thinking this maybe some sort of infection! Anyone have any clue?
she does nails and hair but I think hair is her main client base!
I have made an appointment with a highly rated salon for Monday! I’ve just got out the shower an my thumb and middle finger have begun to lift! 🤬

purplecorkheart · 20/01/2023 16:04

Sorry they are awful. I suspect your friend is qualified through some scam agency/college/online course. No way with any decent course give qualification to that poor standard. Walk away

GG1986 · 20/01/2023 16:07

For someone that is apparently qualified, they are awful. Maybe be honest with her and just say it's not working for you and damaging your nails.

RandomUsernameHere · 20/01/2023 16:07

I wouldn't be going back. Sorry but she has done a terrible job. You could do them better yourself.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 20/01/2023 16:07

That's not the work of a professional. What did she say when she'd finished? She must've noticed how bad they look.

Montague22 · 20/01/2023 16:10

Get a salon to remove asap, you likely have a fungal infection because of the lifting.

TheOGCCL · 20/01/2023 17:20

You shouldn't feel bad, once was enough. There's no point her continuing to 'practice' on you, say you'll give it another go when she's reached the next stage of her training or had more hours. Even then I'd think I'd want to see a few pics of her current work. Personally I think nails are a real skill. I've had very bad manicurists where they have made my cuticles bleed and I might as well have done it myself. Not everyone is going to be cut out for it.
