I don't understand eyebrow options- can anyone help please?

I am 45, have dark hair and dark eyebrows. Until I was about 40 I had my eyebrows waxed quite often to keep them tidy. Without this they actually met in the middle, and were really thick- which wasn't fashionable then!

In-between waxes I plucked any stray hairs.

I've never taken much care over my appearance but I did keep on-top of my eye brows (and top lip), because otherwise they looked awful.

Over the past few years my eyebrows (and top lip) don't grow like crazy anymore- sadly my chin has a life of its own instead!

I haven't had them waxed for years, they no longer grow in the middle, aren't so thick and sort of look OK.

But, I'd like to get them 'done' in an effort to look a bit smarter. I don't want to have anything extreme shape wise, and I have plenty of eyebrow so I don't think I want any kind of filling-in type of thing.

I don't seem to be able to find a salon which just offers an eyebrow wax, or an eyebrow tidy and I don't really understand what the other options mean.

I really don't want to get my wires crossed with a beautician and end up with something that I don't want and feel too old for?

Can anyone offfer any advice as to what I should be asking for please?

Threading is more popular now for the service you describe I think. I've seen threading services in a couple of department stores.

What about tidying them up yourself? A lighted magnifying mirror and a good pair of tweezers is Al you need. That's what I do. Personally, I like a natural look. I don't want highly stylised eyebrows.

I think maybe a lamination could work well for you - it perms the eyebrow into a style - most people have the hairs permed slightly pushed up and out, when I get it down I get them just smoothed over and the outer parts fluffed slightly. Works really well and lasts me maybe 6 weeks! They look neat and done with no effort on my part. Some people get them laminated to be all pushed up, but if that's not your style you can have them laminated just to look neat.

Ummm... well, what are the other options?

I am surprised you can't find a salon that offers a straightforward "eyebrow wax" or "eyebrow shape". Can you ring the salon and have a chat with them about the options, and potentially tailor to what you want? I get HD brows but she amends the colour a bit for me, and avoids waxing because I react badly to it; and first time I went, she explained the HD arch to me so I knew what I was getting. But - she also does "normal" brow shaping, tinting etc, not only HD.

I'd recommend that you have them threaded at somewhere like a Blink brow bar. I always say that I want to keep them thick but just want them neatened up. You can always get some brow gel to keep them in place.
