I want to treat myself to a beautiful, quality, stylish, 'looks expensive' coat. Budget up to £250.
I've checked a lot of the high street shops, none of them look good on me, or seem to be very good quality.
Functionality is secondary, but if it's warm, all the better.
I'm 5'3 and have an hourglass shape, which means that the straight up and down coats tend to look funny on me, as tight around bum, but baggy around waist.
Thanks.

J crew cocoon coat, smart and really warm

Another vote for this. I bought one in the sale last year for a really good price. Quality is brilliant. I have it in camel. It has a peach lining edged with burgundy. Which makes it look more expensive. Bonus it's really warm.

I love Phase Eight's Susie. I've purchased a couple of them in different colours over the last few years and they get lots of compliments. The latest one has cheaper plastic buttons rather than the original solid metal ones though.

I have a lovely Jaeger one, classic belted style, but a very nice one from Boden (who also do petite lengths). Boden's really well worth a look.

I bought this ted baker one last winter, reduced from £350 to £164, I loved it and it looked really good on. Probably wore it about 6 times, got it out to put on this winter and noticed the loose weave material has a hole in the back, it hasn't ripped, just the fibres have kind of separated. I complained but they said nothing they could do after a year which I think is rubbish 😞 I'll stick to cheaper now I think as I wouldn't be as bothered if I'd paid £60 for it!

Another one who owns the Ted Baker wrap coat with belt - I have the dark green from a previous year. It’s lovely on and always looks good, plus is warm. I have the 3/4 and also petite so it sits longer on me. Had to get the sleeves shortened but not that tricky to do.

Massimo Dutti. I have 2.

Another fan of the Ted baker wrap coat, I have it in a deep purple / navy. Have had it 5 yrs.

I am currently lusting after this Sandro Paris beauty.

I’m a similar height and figure - seconding all the recommendations for the Ted Baker Coat - I have three (hot pink, bottle green, black), the pink one is about 6 years old now and still gets regular wear. I’d only look at the longline ones though, the cropped ones end at an unflattering point on me. My most stylish coats are probably my (fake) furs but they are very much firmly at the style end in the style v function spectrum (although to be fair some are bloody warm).
