Best powder for oily skin?

I'm on the same hunt I've been on for the past 5 years or so, for a powder that will keep oil at bay for more than just an hour or two.

I wear minimal makeup, just some concealer, bronzer and mascara and need a (preferably) translucent powder to go over my makeup and stop me from looking too shiny. I'm sick of buying products with high hopes and then realising they're useless.

Currently using Stay Matte powder in 001 and it's good, but I find I need to reapply it a bit too often for my liking.

Any recommendations?

I recommend trying a Primer, I have oily skin & since discovering primers (applied on their own or under foundation) I rarely need powder.
The best ones are mattifying & pore blurring.

Revolution have a good one I'm trying now.
I was using Smashbox but annoyingly it's been discontinued in the UK.

One heck of a blot by Soap and Glory. Pressed powder,

As a fellow shiny face sufferer (with very visible pores) I would also suggest a good primer. I've gone off Instablur from The Body Shop (JK Rowling row and also their MLM arm), and now use Benefit Porefessional. For heavy duty days I tend to use Porefessional, topped with The Ordinary's High Adherence Silicone Primer. Might need to do a tissue dab partway through the day, but on the whole that combo keeps my face looking a normal shine level.

In fact, I find primer works better for me than powder.

Definitely use a primer, I use Boots No 7, then Laura Mercier loose powder

I found a great tip: after moisturiser put a thin layer of powder on. It stops a lot of oil before it breaks through your make up.

I’m another Laura Mercier fan with a very oily T zone.

Place marking!

I too manage to “shine” through pretty much every “matte” foundation - thanks PCOS!

While my mother likes to keep saying “at least you won’t wrinkle as much” I’d like to not have to contend with an oil slick across my face by 11am each day!

I will take notes on these recommendations.

Another oily shiny person here! I've been looking at this recently (I go in cycles, looking and trying stuff and then get fed up at the cost and time when nothing seems to work).

I read recently that silicone primers can make it worse which mirrors my issue as often my foundation slides around my nose and chin after a couple of hours.

I also watched a YouTube tutorial where you put hairspray on a face sponge and dab on your Tzone prior to makeup.

Following with interest as need the holy grail!!

Laura Mercier is a good one, but it's expensive and tends towards a yellowish undertone. I have pale skin and found it was to yellowy for me.

Although I really like the newer one - I think it's called LM Ultra Blur or something, it's a bit silkier and less cakey on my skin.

Thank you all! So definitely a primer, alright then. I've got a face cream that might be like a primer, I'm not sure, it's specifically for oily skin and seems to do the trick, just not entirely. I'll look into the primers recommended here and in the meantime, will repurchase the Rimmel stay matte as it's very cheap and seems to work better than anything else I've bought.
