Rosacea

I’ve developed what I think is rosacea (thank you menopause!) and was wondering if there is anything I can do to improve it or am stuck covering it up with make up?

Chose any cream - all the same ingredients- it does sting but bear with it! Let me know how you get on.

Thanks! Fingers crossed

I put some on a couple of hours ago (two large lumps that haven't budged since weekend). No stinging but the swelling and redness has already gone down. I'll let you know how it goes and it might help someone else.

CrystalMaisie · 22/02/2023 13:25

After seeing Soolantra mentioned so favourable on here, I asked my gp for it for my peri menopause rosacea and he was happy to prescribe. It gradually get better over a few months, I was really happy with the results.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 22/02/2023 13:30

Thank you so much for creating this thread OP as I have been pondering doing the same. I think I might try Dermatica myself going by the raving reviews here.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 08/03/2023 09:02

Oh dear. I ordered the Dermatica and it has caused my skin to literally start shredding off my face. I am actually refusing to leave my house for the amount of staring i get when I do. Will be careful what I wish for in future.

anon2022anon · 08/03/2023 12:18

@EmilyGilmoresSass wow, really? What prescription did they give you? I wonder if youre allergic to one of them? It's not a problem I had at all. I hope it clears up soon

Isabelle70 · 08/03/2023 13:04

@EmilyGilmoresSass have you contacted them? That's is awful it must be your prescription they gave you.

Spanielsarepainless · 08/03/2023 13:05

I was prescribed Rosex for mine, had to use it daily but it kept the redness and bumps under control.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 08/03/2023 15:05

I contacted them and pretty much got a copy and paste response saying to give it a few days break and make sure I moisturise first. Both of which I actually did 🙈 nothing ever seems to work on mine to be honest, I knew it would be too good to be true in my case. I'll cancel it for now I think and give it a few weeks break then try again before i decide whether to continue the subscription next month. I don't really have any allergies so I don't think that's what it is but time will guess I tell!

supercatlady · 08/03/2023 15:12

Lymecycline helped with mine. I also swear by Rosalique which tonesdown the redness.

Isabelle70 · 08/03/2023 16:31

What prescription did they give you? I am on Ivermectin 1%/ Metronidazole 0.75%/ Niacinamide 4%.
I am a type 2 rosacea with the redness and pustules.
Before Dermatica I did have Rozex from the doctor and it worked a little bit I didn't like the texture.

Adapalene 0.1%/Niacinamide 4%/ Clindamycin 1%. Seemed more concerned about 'acne' than the rosacea. I did tell them I've had a confirmed diagnosis by two different people.

cornflakegeneration · 08/03/2023 18:40

@EmilyGilmoresSass Can you see if you can get them to change it for the prescription that someone linked to above? That's what I have too and I've had no sensitivity at all. Sounds like the formulation is too harsh for your skin.

cornflakegeneration · 08/03/2023 18:41

I think the Adapolene is a retinol which will prob be the cause of the problem

Isabelle70 · 08/03/2023 18:57

When I started I selected Anti Ageing and did one set of photos.
They replied and said I needed to do rosacea, which I did with a new set of photos and with the prescription I have I have never looked back.
Could you upload new photos once your skin has settled and ask for the rosacea treatment?
It's absolutely awful when your skin is bad.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 08/03/2023 19:22

Thanks everyone. I think I will try the advice given by you thanks. I honestly couldn't even bring myself to put anymore anywhere near my face. I feel like I'm being stared out by anyone I've seen this week. Hence why I'm now refusing to go out 😅 fingers crossed something gives!

anon2022anon · 08/03/2023 20:00

I hav the same prescription as @Isabelle70 @EmilyGilmoresSass , it definitely sounds like they've prescribed wrong

acountrymile · 08/03/2023 20:54

I am hoping to get Finacea on prescription which I think is 15% Azelaic Acid.

EmilyGilmoresSass · 10/03/2023 23:16

Ladies, sadly I got nowhere. I had a diagnosis from a private dermatologist over a year ago after suffering issues for quite some time. Dermatica came back to tell me they don't think i have rosacea and its just a reaction from the formula they sent (despite my photos clearly showing my skin before it was sent) so I have cancelled, but I appreciate your advice. I wish OP and any other sufferers the best in finding the right treatment though

Katyawampus · 10/03/2023 23:20

Have you had antibiotics. I had Doxacycline for a few months which didn't do much but Oxytetracycline made a huge difference

redteapot · 10/03/2023 23:21

I have tried lots of things over the years - the ones I have stuck with are La Roche Posay Toleriane serum and Kalme moisturiser (I get it online from Skin Shop). It's not completely gone but it's much, much better.

I had 16 weeks of Doxycycline last time. Maybe I shall see if GP would consider prescribing something else since I'm getting nowhere with Dermatica. Thanks for the advice

WifeOfEddieMunson · 11/03/2023 09:46

I'm in the same place with rosacea, looking back at photos, I realise that I've had it since the birth of my 3rd child. Recently it's become alot worse. Thank you to all the advice on here. Zovorax & Lansinoh have improved it this week. Thankfully I'm working from home so I can plaster my face Lansinoh.

pearlsig · 11/03/2023 11:35

I think Zovirax helped with individual large lumps and reducing them, but doesn't get rid entirely.

I can cope with the redness it's just the blister type spots that can pop up in an instant that's upsetting. I've only identified stress, not diet, as a definite trigger, but sometimes I'm not at all stressed and they still appear.

I've been in peri menopause for a while and wonder if HRT might help with rosacea. Does anyone know?

I recently started with zinc supplements as they're supposed to help. I have some lansinoh (use for lips nowadays!) so will try that @WifeOfEddieMunson

I've been using rosehip oil over moisturiser this week and that's helped more than anything, but I still have my patchy, heat rash-looking cheeks. No spots at the moment but raised areas like a slight nettle rash. Just covering up with the Clinique yellow powder, which is quite good, until I find something that works.

Isabelle70 · 11/03/2023 13:06

@EmilyGilmoresSass
Could you ask for this from the doctors?
www.soolantra.com/about-rosacea-treatment
That is one of the medications in my Dermatica prescription.
Do you have the redness and pustules? I would say that medication is the one that has sorted my rosacea.

Sneakyblinders · 11/03/2023 13:10

Soolantra hasn't worked for me but will try some of these other recommendations
