Cosmetic surgery in Turkey

ganggangrosey · 14/01/2023 11:02

I want to find a liposuction specialist surgeon in Turkey. Could somebody advise me how to research a reputable one with genuine reviews?

I would love to hear experiences and advice on cosmetic surgery in Turkey too.

There is an instagrammer/TikTok-er called Nicola Wills who has just had loads of surgery done in Turkey. She covers it on her Tiktok; the Fabulous Ibiza Mama, so you might be able to find out from her videos the name of the surgeon and clinic she went to. I think she's had other stuff done in the past at the same clinic too

Thank you, I will have a look!

Hi
I had surgery there and you will find most clinics make you sign to say you won't say anything negative on social media or they'll sue you! It's therefore really difficult to find someone very good

JustFrustrated · 23/06/2023 12:14

Have you considered Lithuania instead? Even the BBC have covered the clinics there very favourably. It's also a shorter flight (and having flown after lipo, you'll be grateful for that)

Also, the clinics there don't make you sign to say you won't post anything negative on SM?!

Have you had surgery in Turkey? I have and they did

No. Hence why I referenced Lithuania and "they" were the clinics in Lithuania.

I'm appalled by the stance of Turkish surgeries for that. Also, not convinced it would stand up in a court.

I'm always perplexed about people who go abroad for surgery. Who does the wound care / after care and what happens if something goes wrong and you get an infection or need further surgery urgently?

TheNewMeToday · 23/06/2023 16:21

Last year we were on holiday in Turkey with a gay couple, not that makes any difference. One had planned cosmetic dentistry done locally. Went wrong, infection, ended up flying home for treatment and came back after a day to finish holidays. Ended up a lot more painful and expensive than doing in the UK in the first place.

Check out Treatment Abroad (.net I think) and Medical Travel Shield for specialist medical travel insurance.

Also once you’ve found a Dr make sure you Google them well, ask for testimonials and before & after pics.

There’s some amazing surgeons out there and Turkey is far more advanced than the UK, their hospitals and facilities are amazing and a way higher standard or treatment and care.

The same people who would do emergency care if you had surgery in the UK - the NHS.

I know my clinic a) had you stay in the country for 5-7 days after surgery with multiple check ins, and also had you stay in the hospital over night for all surgery (unlike here in the UK)

ALSO for any none urgent restorative, or fix, they'd cover you to go back e.g. flights and surgery.

Wound care - you don't get wound care here either. And again, my surgery, took preventative measures e.g. antibiotic drip during and after surgery, and a week's course of anti Bs, then tonnes of "wound" coverings/tapes.

I'm always perplexed by those who are actually judging people for going abroad without doing their own research on it.

Would the same people judge those who go abroad for knee/hip replacements for example?

Why should the NHS pick up the failings of botched cosmetic surgery if something goes wrong?

Apologies. Agreed, I've heard good things about Lithuania

They only do in emergency cases.

An emergency case doesn't mean the surgery was botched. It means someone has a life threatening complication, such as an infection.

Why should the NHS pick up the costs of treatment for smokers/drinkers/adrenaline junkies?

Honestly, can't fault the place at all. I heard good things about all the clinics. But mine, I'd vouch for them a 1000 times over. Even recommend them to people for orthopedic surgery

BatsHaveButtcheeks · 23/06/2023 17:44

Nords in Lithuania are brilliant.
Turkey can be hit and miss. I've seen some fantastic work and not so fantastic work.

Have a look on Facebook for some surgery groups, many people post their surgeons, and that may give you a start into finding one for you.

Instagram too - but most people tend to create pages with their surgeon only, so can be trickier finding one that way.

edgein · 15/09/2023 12:11

Agree. I had a face lift in Lithuania about 16 years' ago and it was a good experience. The surgeon spent time working on facial war injuries before joining the clinic so really knew what he was doing.

Tangoes · 15/09/2023 12:40

Every week there is a story of a death or a botched surgery in Turkey.Google it and you will find many stories.
I wouldn't go overseas to get any form of surgery. If there are after problems doctors or the NHS may not help.

Bumblebeelane · 15/09/2023 22:07

Having spent an age myself researching a private clinic in the UK it cant be easy choosing one abroad. Ideally someone you know or know through a friend etc could give you a personal recommendation? Hope you find someone.

One thing I'd just suggest is having a plan for post op care once back in the UK. Our local NHS service decline to see routine post care for dressings etc if private op, you are directed to arrange private care for anything that crops up once back in the UK (including suture removal). Although infection type/ urgent care I would imagine would be given.
