So I need a mascara ideally one that can curl and make my lashes look false/ more volume, need to be able to get it from high street tomorrow, any suggestions?

I just bought the Aldi one today, not tried it yet. I believe it's a dupe for Benefit.

It’s okay actually, need to apply more than one coat and use a smaller brush under lashes but mine are short it’s got a lovely non clumpy brush and texture it seems better, as they all do after a few uses, it’s a bargain as well and it doesn’t smudge
the brush has that ‘corner lash’ design but I find the brush too big for the small lashes under eye

Margarita45 · 13/01/2023 21:45

Sky high black for me!

PetitPetitPois · 13/01/2023 21:48

I was after a clumpy mascara a few weeks ago, I used to use bonjouis ultimate clubbing but now they don’t sell it and was a bit lost.

Found Lancôme mr big and I love it! Slightly above “drug store” but was only £17.50!!!!! Best decision I’ve made for a while

Can't believe it's fourteen quid though

Mydogatemypurse · 13/01/2023 21:54

Sky high

I always used to use Benefit Bad Gal Lash because I loved the fat brush, tried this one recently and really rare it so far!

This one...

I like L'Oréal telescopic too. Doesn't clump.

louderthan · 13/01/2023 22:28

Lancôme Hypnose. The best. I've tried so so many others and always come back to it. You can order on the Boots website and get it delivered to your local store for collection.

QueSyrahSyrah · 13/01/2023 22:32

I've always had good results with Soap & Glory mascaras, and they don't seem to dry out like a lot of other brands do.

HangoverSquare · 13/01/2023 22:37

No idea how many tubes of L'Oréal Telescopic I've bought over the years but it's lots. Recently impressed by Maybelline Sky High which is similar to Telescopic. Either of those would be my choice.

I've tried a few of the Lancome ones that people rave about but they didn't do it for me.

denishhol · 13/01/2023 22:39

I get great ones from the range for a quid

denishhol · 13/01/2023 22:42

Also the one in the pink container its called paradise i think by loreal but not sure.

OnceBitten25 · 13/01/2023 22:49

I've worn mascara every day since I was a teen (v fair eyelashes!) and keep going back to L'Oréal telescopic.

MissingGrandstand · 13/01/2023 22:54

@wheredotheygo is correct, go to Wilko and get Essence Lash Princess, the pink one is as good as the green one if they don't have it.

I've stopped trying expensive mascara as I just get pissed off when it isn't as good as this £3 one.

DD loves Too Faced Better Than Sex
My favourite is Eyeko -and it has brown and other colours , not just black.(M&S)

I bought Tarte Tubing mascara (duo) but not tried it yet because I don;t want too many open , DD has used hers and rates it

Max factor 2000 calorie, no question.
I’ve used this for years and have many others (Lancôme, benefit etc) which sit unused because this is the only one which works for me. It’s thick, and doesn’t budge all day whereas the others just slide away into smudge under my eyes

This!!

WetBandits · 13/01/2023 22:57

The L’Oreal double extension beauty tubes (red and white double ended) is the best high street mascara I’ve ever used. It’s a tubing mascara so it coats your lashes in small fibres which do not budge unless you deliberately remove it.

I’m wearing one coat of it today and it still looks fresh having been on since 7am.

Pretty! Is it expensive? I always double triple coat as my lashes are very long but sparse so need filling up is it a good one for layering?

The Aldi mascara is great. I'm on my 2nd tube now and plan to buy another with my shop this weekend. Also rate Primark and Wilko Essence. I love a cheap mascara yet I used to swear by Estee Lauder sumptuous extreme or something. No more wasting the pennies on high end - there are loads of amazing ones under a fiver.

Yep at the end of the day much comes down to how much money you have for marketing. Like I said the ones I get from the range I love them!

catinboots123 · 13/01/2023 23:08

These threads always blow my mind - they always have done for nearly 20
Years of being on MN.

I think I've bought every mascara on these threads, From the £2 cheapies to the high end spenny jobs. All I can say is that for me, waterproof is better as I think I have greasy eyelids or something. But loads of posters say W/P is dry and clumpy.

I've never found the holy grail and I'm starting to think there isn't one. Even eyelash extensions fall out after a few days and I'm left with random long and short bits.

catinboots123 · 13/01/2023 23:09

Oh and I've just read back after my rant and max factor 2000 rings a bell - is it still good???

denishhol · 13/01/2023 23:10

On the topic of mascara- I remove all of my makeup with oil. Plain olive oil or the more expensibe ones from H&B. It just slides off then wipe with flannel no stretching no pain no burning pure bliss.

It’s about £13 but one tube lasts ages!

You can layer it but you need to do it fairly quickly as it’s difficult once the first coat has already dried. You use the white end first (primer) and then the red end, if I want a heavier look I’ll do a single coat of white and then immediately apply the mascara, wait about 10 seconds and then go in with a second coat.

Agree! The gold one is amazing.
