Is it possible to tame frizz or I am destined for bad hair forever :(

Hi ladies, don’t know even where to start :(
I have been fighting with frizz my entire life, tried countless products and the hair is still frizzy like hell. Is any way to look decent or I am destined for bad hair days for the rest of my life. I will list down what I have tried and I will attach photo of my “lovely hair” to understand that I am not exaggerating:(
after giving birth I stared to have lots of baby hair which makes things even worse:(

I have an dyson airwrap which is great by hair looks nice in the house, as soon as I step outside is a big fluffy mess. Ok, maybe it needs moisture did that, hair end up next day limp and greasy and still frizzy. Ok, maybe protein the same issue, the hair is soft but frizzy and fluffy. I used oils, moroccanoil, oribe a bit better but the crown of my head still fluffy and frizzy.

my hairs is fine and with high porosity but the scalp is oily and finding the right shampoo is impossible ( either to drying or to moisturising and scalp getting greasy by the end of the day)

on the attached photo I had applied olaplex nr 3 (15min) washed with pureology strength shampoo and applied olaplex conditioner. Dried with hairdryer and then straightening brush, applied oribe oil at the ends . Went out to pick up daughter and came home like this:(

some people recommended to try curly girl method, as my hair might be frizzy because is wavy. It was a terrible experiment, not doing it again. some days I just want to shave it all 🤣

sorry for such long post but I just wanted to provide more detail in hope that people with similar hair and problem will be able to help with some advice and product recommendations.
thank you all

K18 or Olaplex helps keep my frizzy hair under control.

You need some "weight" in the priming products. But look if you have natural curls like I do, no amount of product will keep it from frizz if you walk in fog for example.

A couple of products that work super well for me (I have thick curly hair, keep it straight with the airwrap) is the Colour wow spray in or the bumble and bumble invisible oil for dry to very dry hair.

I have the same hair type, and it is so, so frustrating. I'm starting to think the only solution is a keratin treatment (formaldehyde-free). The cost is the main barrier. That, and also I'm sure I would lose a lot of volume. The before/after photos are really encouraging, though. This site has some photos and background on this type of treatment:

Keratin treatment/Brazilian blow dry - about £120, total faff getting it done takes about 3 hours.

But the Frizz will be gone for 3 months! you can even leave hair to dry naturally and it'll look like you just have great hair.

An example of this type of treatment is called Cezanne Hair Smoothing.

I have the solution for you coming from a curly girly here! I was anxious about my hair coming up to my wedding the hairdresser told me to try colour wow dream coat, you coat your hair in it after washing then style with heat and it is literally waterproof and it lasts 3-4 washes tho you do have to apply liberally it has changed my life after 30 years of being a frizz ball please try it honestly so cheap too compared to other options one bottle lasted me 6 months I hope this helps

PureAmazonian · 02/10/2023 21:16

Don't brush it. I know that sounds mad. But I no longer brush my hair. I condition and brush with my fingers. Maybe a wide tooth comb if my hair is tangly. But I do not brush my hair when it is dry. Brushing has always made my hair frizzier.

Icedlatteplease · 02/10/2023 21:55

Silicone and sulphate free shampoo and conditioner.

You will probably need to persevere a bit

You need waaaaay less product not more

ichundich · 02/10/2023 22:04

Watching as I have the same issue between September and April and and rainy days inbetween!

TheLastScone · 02/10/2023 22:07

You might just be my spirit animal, join me in my struggles! I have a thread going right now about mine, called 'why oh why'.

Unfortunately i have tried it all, and spent some. No joy. And to add to that, we are all so different that one solution won't work for others.
CG method was a mess for me too.

The only time i have managed to eliminate frizz, often even outdoors was when using ghd's. I don't know what to suggest, unless wispy hair comes back in fashion, someone will always tell us there is something 'wrong with it'.

Mine had been described as 'damaged' yet it hasn't been damaged at all! It's just my hair.

Brazilian blowdry is a game changer!

Can't recommend this enough. It really is a God send! My hair is ridiculously frizzy no matter what products I try, and I've tried them all.

"Curly girl method" worked well for me. There are quite a few rules to it, but once you retrain your hair it can be effective too.

CatherinedeBourgh · 02/10/2023 22:11

Another one for Brazilian blow dry/yuko type treatment.

Lasts me around 9 months. Frizz free easy hair.

gertrudemortimer · 02/10/2023 22:15

Another one for a keratin treatment. It only cost me £70 at my local salon, formaldehyde free. My hair is still better condition 18 months later but I'll be getting it done again around Xmas time. Ring up a few, if they don't have it they could buy it in. Don't pay excessive city prices.

mdinbc · 03/10/2023 06:26

It actually looks like some of your hair has broken, or is that new hair growing in postpartum? I'm afraid you will just have to wait for the shorter lengths to catch up with the rest of your hair!

The best thing would be to not use hair tools at all, if you can. The heat can wreck fine hair., as can highlights. Try putting your hair in big velcro rollers, and let it dry naturally, with some John Freida Frizz Ease Leave in Nourishment Spray to help set it. Wrap it in a silky scarf while it dries. Old fashioned method, but much easier on your hair.
