Talk to me about brows - Microblading / nano / etc / what have you had done and loved

I would very much like to get my brows done - whenever I get them dyed at the salon I love it (but it fades easily and too quickly ) - so am looking at the semi permanent options and would love know who has had their brows done, and has aimed more for a natural look (late 50's ) I would very much like to avoid at the very dark "slug look" but I am imagining that there are a whole array of treatments in-between.

would love to know what others have done and been happy with.

Once they are done how do you care for them? Just tweezing?

Any recommendations for London?

I have had mine micro bladed, they need doing it again, I think it was about 4 - 5 years ago that I last had them done, but I just fill in the brow with a pencil now as I can still see the shape, I love them and they were 'life changing' for me as one of my eyebrow just fell out and never grew back so I used to have a long floppy fringe hanging over my face to try and hide it, my only issue which isn't really an issue is that because I have greasy skin I don't keep the crisp lines and mine going a bit blurry but I do not care as at least I have two eyebrows.

Yes just tweezing and a good spf to keep. them looking good.

The photo shows them straight after treatment and the before of my missing brow

Thank you, I like them, if you can't find anyone in London, my lady is about 1hr 20 minute train ride from Waterloo if you would like a recommendation.

Metabigot · 12/01/2023 19:19

Mine are nano'd, I get them topped up every year. I'm in the North West if you want a recommendation, fantastic lady and very experienced.

PeppermintChoc · 12/01/2023 19:26

Had mine “micro pigmented” it wasn’t micro blading but similar. A finer needle. 7 years ago. Had it topped up twice. They need topping up again but I’m still breastfeeding. Only reason I haven’t been each year has been covid and pregnancy/feeding - you’re not meant to have a tattoo whilst pregnant or breastfeeding.

Really happy with the results.

iwantavuvezela · 12/01/2023 19:49

@Metabigot could you tell me what nano is - is it more subtle?

@PeppermintChoc ill google micro pigment as well

It’s all much of a muchness. My brow lady hated micro blading when I first got mine done, now she does it too and uses a mix.

Beachlovingirl · 12/01/2023 20:02

I had my first treatment of powder brows just before Christmas but I’m going back next month for a top up and also to have some micro blading on top to add some “hair strokes”

even without the extra hair strokes I love having mine and can’t believe I spent so much time every single day and now don’t have to!

CluelessandConcerned · 12/01/2023 20:06

I've had mine done with the powder brow technique. Think more of a light soft tattoo rather than micro blading. Had them done over a year ago and they still look super fresh. Will get them topped up in June. Highly recommend. You can even combine this with hair strokes.

Just jumping in with an alternative experience. I had mine micro bladed by a very well regarded salon in the north west, customer service/ my experience etc. was all excellent, as were my freshly done brows but the effect lasted about 3 weeks.

I was meticulous about the aftercare and went back for the standard touch up and then a full free of charge re-do which was more painful as they went deeper. Seems I just have skin that doesn’t respond well to this treatment. Unfortunately there are patches in my natural brows that have held onto the pigment and so I now need to fill in the rest to even things out.

iwantavuvezela · 12/01/2023 23:24

I had no idea there were so many techniques - thanks everyone for sharing experiences - I think I have a better idea

My advice is just go for a good brow artist (if that’s the right word) let them decide what techniques. If their work looks good they will make the right choice.

rollerblind · 13/01/2023 06:59

I cant justify the cost but follow a lady called Nez Hasan who has a salon in London which lots of celebrities and MUAs use. X

iwantavuvezela · 13/01/2023 11:52

@rollerblind thanks for that recommendation - her work looks amazing - and @PeppermintChoc you have a good point - get a good brow artist and ask them to recommend

Has anyone had theirs laminated?

Also, what are nano and powder? So many options!

Thereisnolight · 13/01/2023 11:58

I have no idea what nano, powder or micro are but I went to a reputable salon and explained what I wanted for my non-existent brows - natural-looking, no slugs. That was 3 months ago and I’m very happy with the result. I look 10 years younger.

They can turn out a little patchy - they advise you about this and often you’ll need a top-up a month or so later to fill in gaps. I have gaps but no time yet to top up - I just use a pencil if I’m going out - it’s still x100 better than it was.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/01/2023 12:27

I'm interested too , but put off by some of the before/after shots I've seen when Googling .

I definately don't want heavy or 'slug brows'

But I'm considering having mine done by a tattoo artist . My brows are very thin at the tails and a gap in the middle , partly by age and partly over zealous tweezering in my teens ! (It was the fashion back then)

I use Revitabrow but its an ongoing thing and then I forget . If I really perservere and dye them they look pretty ok till it fades . But of course it only dyes the hair that is there and shows up the thinning bits .

So anyone had a tattoo-artist rather than a Brow Technician ?

Nano is using a very fine needle to do the procedure, rather than a blade. Less damaging to skin.

You can still do all the same effects, powder brow, hairstroke etc
