I was gifted this beautiful bracelet as I love my birth sign snd it's real I've been assured. But I see various 'marks smudges like it's rolling around and getting messy? Thoughts pls from ppl who know about crystals

Crystal bracelet question

I'm guessing it'll be oil from your skin. Do you wear a lot of moisturizer in that area?

Anyway, it's nothing to worry about. I would clean the crystals by polishing them with a soft, dry cloth. If they ever get really disgusting, you could add them to a bowl of water + dishwashing detergent but be careful because you don't want to discolour the string.

The crystals themselves are tough. Oil from your skin or products won't hurt them. It may make the string look gross but you can replace the string by threading a new one through the crystals with the needle or maybe even getting a chain.

Your post makes no sense. What do you mean you were gifted? Did someone give it to you as a gift?

You said it's real, but real what?

What’s hard to understand? Yes, ‘gifted’ means OP received it as a gift. It’s perfectly normal use of the word. And I’d assume by ‘real’ OP means it’s crystal and not plastic.

Amethyst I would assume.
Regardless the OP clearly means it's a genuine crystal , not glass or plastic .
I've definitely heard 'gifted' used like that, language is a living thing , it evolves .

It looks like an Amethyst bracelet to me. It’s normal to have markings inside such as swirls, smudges and marks inside the crystal, if there were no markings then I would suspect that it could be a fake crystal.

just keep it clean and polished by occasionally wiping with a clean and damp cloth, being careful not to scratch the crystal too much.

Amethyst is the crystal birthstone for the month of February. It’s a lovely gift idea for a birthday present.

@Cats1234567, oh, you're right! The OP was talking about the less polished parts.

I agree with @Cats1234567, OP. This is completely normal. The duller parts are fine. It just means that those parts of the stone weren't polished to the point that they're shiny. "Polishing" stone/minerals just means rubbing down the rough parts. I personally like a little imperfection. This is a beautiful bracelet and in fact, the less polished parts are evidence that it's natural/real.

Absolutely Antst, and from looking at the picture I would say the bracelet is real too.

mallardducks · 07/01/2023 20:14

Thank u everyone. Yea it's amethyst or however it's spelt

Sounds like all is good and I just need to polish every now and then . Thanks for all advice

My last question is, Can I wear a crystal bracelet like this alongside sterling silver?

OP posts:
Antst · 07/01/2023 20:39

@mallardducks, if you're asking whether the amethyst can react with the silver and damage something, the answer is no. Amethyst is basically the same thing as most beach sand. It's very hard to react it with anything. You can wear it with whatever you like. I'm jealous. It's my birthstone too and I'd love one like it.

Just a reminder that if the string gets gross and dirty and you can't clean it, don't throw the bracelet away. It can be restrung. You could probably do it yourself with a needle and thread or a jeweller could. Probably wouldn't cost much.

mallardducks · 07/01/2023 20:47

Thank you @Antst I was basically asking if I Could wear it on same hand as Pandora bracelet or should it be separate wrists

OP posts:
Antst · 07/01/2023 20:54

@mallardducks, oh, you're asking whether the amethyst beads might damage the silver by scratching or denting it? Yes, it probably could, come to think of it. I would wear the amethyst by itself.

The great thing about the amethyst beads is that they're going to be pretty hardy but you do want to watch out about letting them impact anything else.

mallardducks · 08/01/2023 10:50

@Antst yea that's exactly what I'm asking as I have a Pandora bracelet and a watch but I'm thinking I'm possibly too old for Pandora now (39) and I prefer my Crystal one anyway then can wear watch on other hand.

I love your amethyst bracelet and amethyst is a calming and grounding crystal. It most probably should be worn alone, only to stop it getting scratched. But a quick buff up with a soft cloth will sort that. With my crystals i lay them on the windowsill during a full moon, simply to cleanse their energy and to keep them working for you. Simply enjoy your beautiful crystals and also the thoughtful person who chose them for you.
