Has the way hairdressers cut changed?

Hello, I’ve been going to the same hairdresser for about three years. It’s one of the more expensive places locally to me and has a great reputation, but I don’t find they cut my hair very well! or the did but I don’t feel like it’s been cut at all.

I went to another place which was cheaper and they did the same.

Back in my teens and 20’s, whenever I’d have it cut there would be loads of measuring, cutting on an angle and I’d walk away feeling like I’d had a proper cut.

Now it seems like they just pick up random sections trim here and there and I’m like, yes it feels nice, but when I come to style it afterwards there’s no symmetry.

I am 38. Is this a trend now and here to stay? God, I’m getting old! 😅😂😂

I am sure I know what you mean! I think it's different hairdressers thought as one I go to takes time, cuts with specific techniques and measures as she goes; I couldn't wait for an appointment with her recently as was going on holiday so I booked elsewhere.

The one I went to was hyped up as this amazing stylist and hair cutting skills, had taught here and there etc etc.
she basically pulled all my hair forward then chopped it from the front and that was my layered 'style' Confused I felt like I was in a bloody TikTok video and was not impressed!

It’s so annoying!

I know what you’re talking about too.

I think when I was a teen loads of layers was the style (Jennifer Aniston) and that worked so well for my hair as I’m really curly but wear it straight a lot. I tried a curly cut too and well, that was ironically too much maintenance, when I’d normally just wash and let it air dry. Not for me.

it just feels like they’re too scared or cautious to give it a good go 😂😂

I am going to have to travel back to where I grew up and go and see my old hairdresser. It’s a pain but hopefully I’ll be left satisfied and it’ll be loads cheaper too.

I suspect that there's more money in colouring than cutting and you can do colours that hide the cut,or lack of it
