Phillips IPL Lumea

I am hoping to buy a Lumea next month but wanted to know if they hurt to use? Like is the zapping painful?

I have PCOS and I'm sick of being hairy. I tried a laser clinic years ago but I hated the sensation- like a hot elastic band twanging my skin.

I would love the Lumea to be very effective and painful...is that too much to ask?

Hi, I’ve used the Lumea and no it’s not painful. The unit does heat up with use, so if it starts feeling too hot against the skin I did need to stop and give it a break, which meant sessions could take quite a while. Also needed to do the more sensitive areas (underarms) first. But with these precautions, no it didn’t hurt.

However - I have PCOS and didn’t find the Lumea that effective. Not sure if it’s because of the PCOS or because I have fairly light hair (dark blonde/light brown) rather than dark hair. I’ve also had lasering which worked better but again PCOS can mean the hair is more likely to come back. Sigh.

No, I don't find it painful. I had laser before I bought the IPL and that was much much sorer. I'd describe it as a small elastic band pinging off my skin. Like a twinge but I wouldn't describe it as painful. Mine has worked really well, just need to remember to use it!

I’ve been using mine for two years :) it’s great I use it on the highest setting everywhere except my under carriage - that I use level three as it’s proper smarts on level five in that area otherwise
