What did you pay for a facelift and were you happy?

wegoagainplease · 03/01/2023 21:52

Been told by a skin specialist I'd be better going for a facelift rather than fillers or Botox as my skin is saggy.

Anyone had a facelift? If so, can I please ask how much it cost?

And are you pleased with the results?

Part of me thinks just accept aging gracefully but then another part sees my aging mother staring back from the mirror and makes me shudder.

And if anyone else reads this and has any thoughts on whether to have surgery or not, do comment.

I'm unbelievably conflicted on what to do.

Bump because I am watching. Have you done any fillers or botox, OP?

wegoagainplease · 03/01/2023 23:33

No. The skin specialist said to get the benefit of those she'd recommend a face lift first as she'd have to put so much filler in I'd end up with a ball for a face!

Honestly, getting older sucks

i bet my cotton socks your beautiful and don’t need anything like this x

Merryoldgoat · 03/01/2023 23:37

I’m sorry OP - I know it’s not funny but ‘a ball for a face’ really got me.

Merryoldgoat · 03/01/2023 23:39

And I’m generally not a fan of things like Botox and fillers but there’s plenty of stuff I like that other people don’t.

So what? If it makes you happy then do it - life is too short.

My jowls could give Margaret Rutherford a run for her money!

On the one hand I want to have the fearlessness of Mary Beard and on the other the jawline of JLo.

🤣we suffer jowls in my family my sisters had the works, you’ve obviously tried jawline filler?

Marmitepot · 03/01/2023 23:46

I would get this thread moved to Style and Beauty @wegoagainplease as you’ll get more positive responses than AIBU.

Saw a lady on there who’d had some good work done,I think she had a brow lift and neck tightening or something.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 03/01/2023 23:49

I paid £7000 for a lower lift and blepharoplasty, that was 12 years ago though. I was and still am happy with the result. No idea of the current cost though.

Shoemadlady · 03/01/2023 23:49

Have you looked at PDO threads if you're worried about jowls? Much less invasive than a full facelift. Google them and look for a recommended practitioner in your area

Straycatblue · 03/01/2023 23:51

If you are on fb & put face-lift into the search bar & then further filter the results into Groups by along the top choosing the filter that says Groups (well on android its along the top)

It will bring up lots of fb Groups (some UK specific) with thousands of folk posting real life stories, results, costs etc
Might be helpful

There's pretty much a fb group for almost anything

Obvs as with anything medical, be cautious & check any medical advice given with own Dr.

Hard to age in a culture that perves over youth and doesn't much like women, old or young. I do get it.
I tend to think of aging as an honour and a privilege. And Margaret Rutherford was awesome!
Take care op, and look after yourself. Love yourself a little.
Xx

You could investigate Ultherapy for your jowels. Non-invasive.

Cornelious · 04/01/2023 00:18

Was going to suggest PDO threads. The results look fantastic/ it's non surgical, less invasive and cheaper.

Wagsandclaws · 04/01/2023 00:46

I lost a lot of weight in my late 40's ( 6 stone ). My face and neck deflated like a balloon.

I always used Botox and fillers but they just weren't working anymore. I tried threads 3 times and they don't last 5 mins or do that much tbh.

Last resort was a neck lift. In the end it was a neck and lower face lift. The difference it's made is unbelievable. To me anyway. It's increased my confidence massively when I was very self conscious about the sagging.

It cost 10.5k and I had to save hard for it but I'd get it done again op without hesitation.

First two pics are my lower face which is quite saggy and my neck which had the most sagging. The neck and lower facelift have done miracles.

I had it under a local too, talked to my surgeon all the way through. He wasn't the cheapest but I thought he was the best as he does several of these a week and I've seen lots of examples of his work.

I'm 51 at the end of this month and I am meticulous about my skincare, I didn't used to be but it's paid off as my skin is pretty good now.

Good luck op if you decide to go ahead, I haven't regretted it for a moment Smile

@Wagsandclaws you look amazing totally worth it!!

Gilead · 04/01/2023 01:06

I know you’re conflicted, but think about how you will feel in a year, missed opportunity or grateful to have the money to spend on something else?

Blossomtoes · 04/01/2023 01:33

I’ve seen your posts before @Wagsandclaws. You look bloody gorgeous and you’re so generous in your advice and sharing your experience. Seeing your face makes me happy every time.

ClareBlue · 04/01/2023 03:11

Most are happy or maybe unhappy, you just can't tell 😂

Motelschmotel · 04/01/2023 03:55

I tend to look at permanent / invasive treatments differently. From dying your hair to fillers/Botox to surgery.

In the West it’s normal to adjust the body to fit the mind. Because we can - we have the technology, it’s affordable to many, and it’s very normalized. To the point of crossing over into quotidian.

I find that back to front. Our minds are never going to outlive our bodies. As we age, we should aim to keep our minds and bodies in synch. It teaches us something. Acceptance, grace, understanding, patience with oneself and others etc.

So intervention with a view to kidding ourselves that we’re not getting old is actually harmful imo.

On the other hand, I’m 100% behind the “ah fuck it, I love the look and I’m going to do it whatever I look like!” That tends to apply to intervention which isn’t done with a view to preserving youth, but out of joie de vivre. I LOVE these women, they ALWAYS make me smile :)

merrymelodies · 04/01/2023 04:10

I think I'm probably past Botox and fillers but I can't afford a facelift. Even if I saved up for one, I don't think I could justify spending that much money on trying (and potentially failing) to reverse the process of aging. It sucks though.
