Which brands of footwear are good for wide feet?

I am looking for advice on which brands of footwear/boots are good for wide feet. I don't have very wide feet so I don't think I need to look at EE or EEE fittings or similar. Just regular brands that work well for wide feet. I know Clarks do a wide fitting in some of their styles, but is Gabor or Reiker or Marco Tozzi or Tamaris for example good for wide feet or are they narrow fitting in general?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I buy wide fit just for work, my feet are not particularly wide but they must swell slightly from wearing shoes all day, I buy Forever Comfort from Next, they do normal wide and extra wide.

I have a pair of Tamaris boots - ancient - that are fine for my wide feet. I also have a pair of Rieker boots, which again, fit me perfectly. I would consider my feet to be really wide!

Fitflop and Fly London are very good.

From memory of working a shoe shop 10+ years ago:

Gabor
Ecco
Josef Seibel
Pikolinos

All brands that came up wider than average.

For walking boots - Merrell and Meindel are the best. Some ranges include a wide or comfort fit too - makes a big difference.

I secondTamaris. I ordered six pairs of boots and trainers to choose from and kept five! Excellent quality

My Gabor boots are wide enough and nice quality leather, they also do half sizes which is helpful if you need to go up a little bit for room.
I'm very happy with them.

Gabor definitely good for wide feet. Clarks sometimes, Columbia and Nike for hiking/running. Red or Dead and FitFlop sometimes too.

I find Reiker, Gabor, Pikolinos, Moshulu and Clarks good, I can't get my feet in Ecco shoes or fitflop, I prefer Adidas to Nike as I find Adidas wider but the actual foot sizes are smaller than Nike. I live in Birkenstocks in the summer.

mejustmenothingtobe · 03/01/2023 22:29

Reiker all the way

Birkenstock sandals and their boots

For any fellow vegans, I find Wills vegan shoes work ok for my wide feet, although size up if between sizes.

Niftythrifter · 04/01/2023 10:47

M and S have a wide range in their shoes.

Ineka · 04/01/2023 12:45

I find Ara is usually good - occasionally a style comes up narrower but they use a specific base shape/style for each of their ranges that doesn't change from year to year, so if you find the base styles/ranges that suit you, you can just order online within those ranges whenever you want a new pair.

Same with Think shoes, which tend to also fit very comfortably on my moderately wide feet

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 04/01/2023 13:11

DM
Solovair
Clarks

haroldscrescent · 04/01/2023 13:20

Josef Siebel Neale boots have a generous "toe box" so are kind to my feet

NightOwlNotEarlyBird · 04/01/2023 13:53

Camper are on the wider side for regular brands

Soothsayer1 · 04/01/2023 13:58

In my experience Birkenstocks wide fitting are the only ones which are genuinely foot shaped. Altra running shoes come a close second, keen footwear are quite good.

Birkenstock sandals and their boots

I'm interested to hear about the boots!
I love their sandals and they really work for my feet but whenever I have tried the more conventional shoes and boots they're just like normal shoes and much too narrow not properly foot shaped etc🙁

WarningToTheCurious · 04/01/2023 14:18

I have wide feet across the toes but narrow heels. Just bought my first pair of waterproof Rieker walking shoes.

I have Ara boots that have lasted for years and are great for walking round towns / cities (Goretex which is a bonus).

New Balance trainers generally fit me well.

Have also found M&S wide fit boots good.

Used to buy Merrells but I’ve found the quality isn’t there any more.

DS has the same issue and we struggle to find comfortable trainers - he used to like Nike Revolution but they’ve changed them and now they are too narrow.

grannycake · 04/01/2023 14:40

@Soothsayer1 I buy them 1/2 a size larger than my normal birkies. I have the Bryson in both black leather and pink suede. The pink ones were comfortable from the beginning - just as well as we went for should have been a 5 mile walk but got lost and ended up walking almost 10 miles.

the black ones took a little breaking in. I think they work because you can adjust the lacing over the widest part of your foot

Ofbollocks · 04/01/2023 16:14

Timberland are wide
