If this is what I want what do I ask for?!

I’m going to the hairdresser on Friday, I’m trying a different one as I’ve just not been happy with the one I usually go to. I’ve attached a couple of photos of what I’m trying to achieve. It’s currently highlighted but very yellow blonde despite toners, purple shampoo etc. My previous hairdresser also did low low lights which have come pot pretty dark grey so it feels very dull currently. Please tell me what to ask for to achieve this hair! Mine is a similar length and fine but lots of it.

Do you show them the photos?

SmileyClare · 02/01/2023 08:56

Platinum blonde.

I’d take the photos too and explain you don’t like the yellow tones.

Yes I have shown her the photos. She also keeps doing a root drag which is fine but she doesn’t blend it at all, I just have an inch of completely even roots!

Show the pictures but you want to ask for a creamy ash blonde, or let them show you the colour swatch book and show them the colour you want.

Word of warning, if you have natural warm tones through your hair, you will find it hard to find a hairdresser that will attempt to achieve this ude to the amount of processing and damage it will do, and if you do find one that will, the maintenance will be very high to keep the brassiness out.

Thank you that’s really helpful. I do have fair hair naturally but it’s a cooler blonde than I warm. I’m also really happy to achieve it in stages but the last time I went and she put all these dark grey low lights through from roots to ends and left the roots untouched it’s just left it brassy yet dull!

Err go to a different hair stylist! Yours sounds terrible!

Prettybubblesintheair · 02/01/2023 10:51

Yes true. I know people who have spent huge amounts of money and damaged their hair with salon and home jobs that don't fully work as their hair is the wrong tone.

A good colourist would advise based on your hair type and tone.
