Skin tags on neck

Does anyone have any good suggestions for helping skin tags fall off? I've no idea why I've got loads on my neck, they appeared after having my second daughter 🤷‍♀️

I bought something from Amazon that was recommended on here with tiny bands. I think they can be hormonal?

I put the band on, the tag turned black & sore over a few days. I panicked after some more days & had my DH cut the band (this hurt). It kind of shrivelled & fall off. Great result as it was big & rank!

Cyrotag on amazon is amazing

Skin tags are often a sign of an insulin resistance.

Useronehundredandtwo · 31/12/2022 16:05

I had the same issue post-pregnancy, probably related to insulin resistance as pp mentioned above. I had them zapped off by a doctor who used a thermocoagulation device. It was very quick and easy, and they haven’t grown back in the 3 years since I had it done.

MiddleOfTheNightAgain · 31/12/2022 16:07

You can snip them off with nail clippers.

BuwchGochGota · 31/12/2022 16:13

I had skin tags around my eyes and had them removed at a beauty salon using thermocoagulation. They haven't grown back.

I had a small one appear on my neck and got my friend to snip it with scissors

I did that, and the bloody thing grew back - even bigger

StrawHatOnTheParcelShelf · 31/12/2022 17:55

GP, using that super cold stuff I can't remember what it's called. I went with my DS to get some warts frozen off and the GP kindly zapped my skin tag while he was at it. It just dried up and dropped off in a couple of days.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 01/01/2023 02:01

I used to get them where my seat belt rubbed, so a fluffy cover may be useful

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 01/01/2023 02:23

I got loads during pregnancy - I just pulled them off! Sore... but they never came back Smile

Ponderingwindow · 01/01/2023 02:31

If I catch them when they are tiny, I cut them off with a pair of very sharp, very tiny scissors. Most of the time they don’t even bleed.

Quick GP check for bloods might be worth it as well - high blood pressure and diabetes are both linked to skintags, although it's probably just hormonal.

SchnauzerEyebrows · 01/01/2023 03:31

I discovered it was down to the non-adjustable seatbelt in my car, rubbing on my neck!

MayMi · 01/01/2023 03:32

Please don't do any self-surgery 🙈 your GP can remove them safely and easily

They may be able to, but not all GPs will. Mine won’t.

Carpediem15 · 01/01/2023 03:45

Keep dabbing them with hand sanitizer, few times each day. Mine disappeared using it.

MistyRock · 01/01/2023 03:51

Tie a bit of cotton thread around them. After a few days they will drop off. No blood, additional costs or waiting for an Amazon delivery

i asked recently and was told they don’t remove them on the NHS anymore, I was told to go private and given a referral letter.

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 01/01/2023 08:55

I used this, which was almost completely painless and entirely effective. amzn.eu/d/eXu50o0

You put the smallest band you can fit over the tag and it gradually blackens and drops off - it took two weeks, which is slightly longer than it said on the box. If you have several I guess you will need to decide whether to go one at a time for limited noticeability or go all in and have two weeks of scarves. I think if you did a lot at the same time you might have a bit of discomfort.

WrappedInRed · 01/01/2023 09:16

Thanks for all your replies! I think I might speak to my GP anyway to see if there's anything underlying. I definitely don't like the sound of any DIY methods except maybe the hand sanitiser!

Had this too- during pregnancy, where my seatbelt sat. I went to the GP and told him they were catching on clothing and pulling off (they had done that occasionally). He used freezing spray and got rid of them. Took about 20 minutes for dozens of them, stang like buggery for an instant each one but soon over. Some have come back, but lots less than there were.

anon2022anon · 01/01/2023 10:42

He hadn't heard of any hormonal reason though.

GreenManalishi · 01/01/2023 10:52

You can get them zapped really quickly, I had some done at a skin clinic, if your GP won't do it
