How to find my style

I have no idea what to wear anymore. I don't think i dress badly but I am a bit bored if wearing the same stuff. Jeans, trainers, jumper. Shirt, jeans, boots. I am 30 next year (gulp) and feel I haven't quite found myself (if that makes sense) any ideas where I can find inspiration, clothing stores I should be looking at? I am in the uk.

Heavens - you’ve barely lived three decades, why would you have any particular style? Why not experiment?

Really your wardrobe will evolve to suit your lifestyle, aspirations and imagination. There’s no rush!

Could have written this, when I was your age. I found a stylist through a friend of a friend who was between styling jobs and wanted to make a bit of cash. She came and met me at my house and went through my wardrobe. She talked to me about my lifestyle and what I needed and what I could afford to spend. She then took me shopping and sorted out the basics of what I needed. It was very intensive but it really really did the job. It lasted (as in I felt confident then buying my own stuff) until the pandemic so about 7 years in my case! The pandemic was a disaster zone, I completely lost my style from wfh and also tipped into my forties. In October this year I booked an appointment with a John Lewis stylist, deliberately going for someone about 5-10 years younger than me to get a fresh perspective! I then went through the process again of talking lifestyle, buying the basics, learning about new brands etc etc. That lady did an amazing job. For me it's a process I need to go through every 5-7 years I reckon as you move through life stages. I love clothes and fashion but have very little time to indulge - these styling sessions have helped to shape what I'm looking for and keep me on track.

So my recommendation is to use a stylist - someone who can look at you with a fresh pair of eyes and be honest about what suits you, they also do the legwork of finding the clothes in the right sizes etc and they make it fun. The John Lewis service was free with no pressure to buy and I had a bra fitting at the same time. I was done and dusted with new bras and a new core wardrobe in 2 hours.
