are they the crutches that go under your arm?

if so, i'd wear something else besides a sari.

but i'd go! definitely. it will lift your mood.

pukkapatch · 02/02/2008 23:08

thats what i said to dh. he seems to think i like being parked on the sofa.
they dont go under my arm as such. thehave the arm rest thing for upper arm, and lower down the hand grip.
so need to find a shalwar kameez that i can get my bandaged foot through. and i have the perfect sari towear too.

i'd go for the shalwar kameez, too.

bummer about the sari!

my aunt makes and wears them for nice events exclusively. once she learned how to wear one properly .

pukkapatch · 02/02/2008 23:30

lol, has she got any suggestions on how towear with crutches?
i am so sick todeath of being sat in one place, and only gettingup for toilet breaks etc. theres nothing wrongwith the rest of me. just my annoying leg.
wish me luck. its tomorrow.

Well, it's just making sure the sleeves don't get hooked up around the handle of the crutch and you don't trip.

But it's well worth going!

Just think of all the sympathy you'll get! And the food.

pukkapatch · 02/02/2008 23:36

lol, you know me well expat.
at ds's school interview yesterday, they basically changed everything round for me. felt terrible,

you'll have a nice seat and food brought to you.

just make sure all the cloth is out of the way of the bottom of the crutch and the handles.

i've been on crutches many times and these are the weak points.

oranges · 02/02/2008 23:40

you could wear a saru with crutches if you pinned the headpiece, and made sure the skirt does not drag.

expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:42

i was thinking, though, oranges, that the headpiece could still get caught in the upper part of the crutch, do you think?

hmm, i guess it would depend on how you pinned it.

but you probably wouldn't need to crutch much, pukka, because i'll be you'd just get a lovely seat straightaway and some pretty good service .

oranges · 02/02/2008 23:44

pin it twice - once on the shoulder, and another lower down, and pin it to the main bit of the sari, to stop it flapping.

expatinscotland · 02/02/2008 23:46

ah, i get ya! i was thinking of the flapping, too.

saris are so beautiful, aren't they?

oranges · 02/02/2008 23:50

yes, and they are actually really good when you have extra 'bits' like a pregnant belly or crutches as the fabric forgives everything.

pukkapatch · 02/02/2008 23:54

headpiece? what headpiece? dont confuse me please. my sari's dont have headpieces..... they have low backs, and necklines, and would show off my tummy, if i had a nice one, but dont, so they cover that up.
i always pin the shoulder, but not lower down the back,
i think i will stick to the shalwar kameez though, as i can imagine getting the bottom end caught under the crutch, whilst i launch myself forward, whilst being filmed by someones mobile phone, and ripping it all out of my waistband.
actually that doesnt bear thinking about.
