Mens brand clothing

Hi all. My husband has finally realised that at nearly 40 he needs a wardrobe update, and the baggy band tshirts and worn through jeans aren't the image he wants as a professor at a uni. Hes asked for some new clothes (on vinted due to money issues) for his bday but he doesnt have a clue about what 'brands' are stylish, trendy long lasting, good quality etc. Ive been updating my wardrobe on vinted and have been looking at whistles, scamp and dude, cos, and other stories... What's the male equivalent? Thanks!!

Cos menswear is good

I'm not sure if he will need a direct equivalent because menswear is far less vulnerable to passing trends and so, even at the cheaper end, quality tends to be more consistent. I say this because Mr Flo is one of the fussiest men in Fussytown and he has a lot of stuff from Sainburys and Tesco that (aside from shoes, where he struggles) has worn and washed annoyingly well. However he's never needed to look corporate so only owns one suit (from John Lewis).

Hubster cares about his appearance and the quality of his clothing and totally agree that brands are not the issue here and mens items are often far better material and construction. Brands in his wardrobe vary hugely from Samuel Windsor (now only do shoes, but did do some good basics and tweed), Tu for Italian knitwear (yes, they did a range of excellent knitwear), Primark (two of the best plain white cotton collarless shirts quality wise, alongside a very good denim heavyweight shirt, so always worth a look), Cordings (special gifts and not cheap but they really last and wear brilliantly, so for cords, shirts and tweed jackets), Meyer for quality chinos, Charles Tyrwhitt shirts, Uniqlo for t-shirts / thermal t-shirts and knitwear, Boden knitwear, Jaeger suits before they went pop and got sucked up by M&S, M&S from a few years back and a made in England M&S wool coat that looks like new and has to be at least 30 years old from a charity shop. Shoes range from Loakes, to Samuel Windsor, Bugatti and Gabor for trainers. I'd also recommend Community Clothing, Paul James Knitwear and that it might be worth checking out some blogs, instagram posts. I like the Grey Fox blog www.greyfoxblog.com

Thanks everyone there's some good recommendations here. He does have a lot of Tu clothing and stuff from tkmaxx but I dont find it has lasted well, its gone a bit bobbly and stretched. I've found a few bits today from vinted including Burton, Jack and Jones and Reiss so I'll see what they're like.
