Haircut for a busy mum

I hope you can help me choose what haircut to ask at my appointment. I haven't been to a hairdresser for a long time.

  • I have long hair and would like it to stay long.
  • my hair is a bit wavy.
  • I have fine hair but lots of it, so it looks thick.
  • I don't want a fringe
  • I want as low maintenance as possible - ideally wash and let it dry and it'll look fine.
  • my face is oval.
TIA for your help.

What did you go for? Did your hairdresser help? They always seem to like cutting it all off!

If you want to keep it long, I’d get some choppy layers, just to add a bit of interest. Side bangs can work well too. But overall, just a really good trim.

Thanks for your replies!
My appointment got moved to tomorrow. I like the choppy layers. I probably won't go for side bangs because I had them in the past and didn't look good, made my face look round (I have a fairly big head).

And yeah lots of hairdressers want to really shorten the hair. But the problem with short hair I think it requires more styling. I don't have time for it sadly.

If your hair ever goes frizzy I’d avoid layers. Layers will bring the waves out more if that’s what you are wanting? But it can be quicker just to straighten unless your waves behave.

I prefer hair more bluntly cut. Buy a nice shampoo and conditioner so it sits nicely.
