Tear Trough Fillers

cocopops11 · 18/12/2022 21:05

Just wondering if anyone has had them and if so, what has your experience been? I've pretty much always had genetic dark circles and have booked a consultation for January. My undereye area is the one part of my face that I'm incredibly self conscious about and I seem to look permanently knackered no matter how much sleep I get

I have used every eye cream under the sun, have a healthy diet and drink lots of water but nothing really works so this is pretty much a last resort.

Anyone any experience and if you have had the fillers, do you think it was worth it?

I can't speak from personal experience but a close friend of mine has tear trough fillers and they make the most incredible difference to the overall look of her face. She's mixed race and suffers from darker under eye patches. The fillers clear all traces of darkness and 'tiredness' up.

Based on her experience, I would absolutely have it done if I thought I needed it.

cocopops11 · 18/12/2022 21:16

@LadyOfTheCanyon thanks so much. That's reassuring to know 🙂

It depends on how deep your troughs are-- there are other options such as lumi eyes which spruce up the area if you don't have hollows but look a bit tired. Chat to an aesthetic practitioner they will advise you on what would work best.

Shitfather · 18/12/2022 22:15

Has mine last Jan and really glad I did. I had hollows and dark circles, and they were eradicated instantly. I’ll have them redone once they have worn away - almost a year and no sign of the filers vanishing yet.

Orangesandlemons82 · 18/12/2022 22:20

I had them about 6 months ago. It has made a big difference in how tired I look. The only negative was that the doctor caught a small capillary on one side and I did end up with a black eye for about ten days.

afrerfa · 18/12/2022 22:25

Find someone good, very good because they're not easy to get right and very expensive. Mine were approx £600 including consultation.

I had mine done for dark circles and they've made no difference whatsoever, and my eyes possibly weren't suitable, as not hollow enough, and they created a bulge. I had to have that dissolved. So don't go near them if you have puffy eyes or poor drainage.

They don't get rid of fine lines if you have those. That's not what they're for. Any difference will be extremely subtle.

I'm going to try lumi eye next time rather than tt filler.

afrerfa · 18/12/2022 22:27

I don't suffer from puffy eyes, to add.

hamstersarse · 18/12/2022 22:27

They make a massive difference

The filler shouldn’t be injected into the actual bag area as the skin is often thin, the entry point should be below and gets to the area via a cannula.

Often surgeons may also suggest some filler in other areas of your face in order to sort of stretch/ sculpt the eye area. It’s a bit of an art so have a good chat with the surgeon

Eatentoomanyroses · 18/12/2022 22:27

It’s more for hollows than dark circles. I have darkness but no hollowing so was told I wasn’t a good candidate.

JimBob61 · 18/12/2022 23:12

I had mine done about six years ago. The difference was incredible.
I was told it would last around 12 months but the dark circles never came back.

Yes I had tiny amount of cheek filler first which made a difference, but I'm not sure those are for me. I looked like Vincent from Beauty and the Beast, if anyone remembers him, for a couple of days.

Lots of hydration and sorting out my sleep helped with my dark under eye area eventually .

stevalnamechanger · 18/12/2022 23:52

I had mine done in 2019 and getting them topped up soon

Lasted well and was very happy

At Secret Aesthetics- Birmingham , I travelled up from London as I like Dr Asads work

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 19/12/2022 00:23

I asked my surgeon about tear trough fillers and he suggested he should enhance my upper cheeks with filler instead. This has made a significant difference to my under eyes and I have no need for tear trough fillers now.

They didn’t wear down since 2019? Impressive. Thanks for the recommendation.

I had mine done a few months ago at a place in London, solely because I met a friend and couldn’t get over how good she looked. Rested, relaxed and fresh faced. She told me she had them done, and the name of the clinic.

I can definitely see a big difference in me, especially on the days I’m feeling tired. I just look more rested for want of a better word?

The clinic used numbing cream to it was totally painless and I can’t feel it - I had read some people get a hard ridge where the filler goes in but I haven’t got that

I have semi-regular Botox anyway, but the clinic also said they usually recommend Botox first as it alters the area around the eyes, and then the fillers a few weeks afterwards, rather than going straight to fillers without Botox

Happy to give you the name of the clinic if you want one in London. They are absolutely fantastic, long consultation before the treatment with no hard sell etc

Delatron · 19/12/2022 10:50

I had mine done in Nov 2020 - I was told they’d last 12-18 months but I still don’t need them redone now. I suspect they last a lot longer than we are told (and I also think this is why some people look overdone).

I love mine (once they’d settled) as above I had a little support at the top of the cheeks too. I went to someone highly recommended and paid a good £800ish pounds I think.

Do your research but for hollowing under the eyes they are great. Also my eyes seemed less puffy conversely. For dark circles - mine weren’t that bad but I definitely need less concealer these days.

Shitfather · 19/12/2022 13:02

@sparechange who did you go to in London?

cocopops11 · 19/12/2022 17:00

Thanks so much everyone for your responses, it has given me a lot to think about. I have booked a consultation with a well known clinic in January so will see what they recommend afterwards

Mine only made a subtle difference. The darkness is still there, but the skin is a bit flatter and it's a bit easier to apply makeup. Not entirely sure it's worth it for me and I'll have to think carefully about topping up.

pharmachameleon · 20/12/2022 12:02

I had this done in 2020 and I'd think really hard about getting it done again. I think my filler migrated a bit and I can see it on my cheek below my tear trough. However I don't think anyone else would notice and I just see it myself. My DM did say to me when I had it done that she thought it made a big improvement and I looked less tired etc. I don't feel it helped my dark circles, in fact it probably made them worse as the filler raised the height of my tear trough to closer to the surface of my skin IYKWIM.
I think I'd get it done again but perhaps go to someone else.

This happened to a friend of mine. It looked like dripping wax. She had it dissolved though. It also gave her puffy eyes where she'd had none before. She hadn't needed it anyway in my opinion, and she hasn't had it done since.

I can rarely tell the difference in the before and after photos of tear trough filler. Unless they're incredibly hollow and dark.

Gwenhwyfar · 20/12/2022 14:54

"My DM did say to me when I had it done that she thought it made a big improvement and I looked less tired etc."

Did you tell you'd had filler or did she notice it herself?
For the first week or so I looked like I had bags as well as shadows as the filler settled under the eyes. Nobody else noticed though afaik.

PicturesOfDogs · 20/12/2022 14:58

Mine have made the world of difference (to me)
I don’t think people can necessarily tell I’ve had it done, but I definitely get a lot less ‘you look tired’ comments, and a lot more ‘you look really well’ type comments.
Well worth it

PicturesOfDogs · 20/12/2022 15:00

Mine were for deep hollows under the eye btw.
I did say to her some people say cheek filler instead, and she said no, I most definitely need tear trough.
Which was what I thought, as I already have quite high cheekbones, and didn’t want to veer into the maleficent.

Hi, I came across your post when I was looking for advice about tear trough fillers.
I live in London and would appreciate if you could let me know the clinic you used as I would rather check out a recommendation than pick just any!
Thanks, hope you still here😊
