Has anyone tried it and is it any good? Any other recommendations for a lip balm that really works would be great as well!

I just use the 8 hour cream in the tube. Every night before bed I put it on lips, they used to be really dry but are great now. Also use it on any dry skin or eyebrows etc. I haven't used the lip balm but I imagine it's similar?!

Overpriced

Suasthuasanuas · 16/12/2022 21:55

Agree with @5moments that the regular 8 hr cream is the biz. It's everything from a lip balm to a burn salve.
On another point the tins that the lip balm comes in are very prone to sticking shut so watch out for that if you get one.

My son gets super sore chapped lips occasionally and the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm clears it right up in a few days. I use the 8 hour cream and swear by it this time of year.

WarriorsComeOutToPlayaaay · 16/12/2022 22:08

Nuxe lip balm (in the pot not the stick) at around £10 is the best lip balm in the universe and I have tried them all.

Beyondshit · 16/12/2022 22:09

No it's shit.

Agree the Nuxe balm is the only one

eurochick · 16/12/2022 22:14

I use the tinted 8 hour balms. They are fabulous for an every day hint of colour so I don't look like a corpse and keep my lips really soft. I've tried other things but come back to them time after time.

Used to buy EA lip balm in a lipstick @£22 and 8 hour cream for dry hands now use O Keefes lip repair and working hands cream .
No "pamper factor "but brilliant products in functional plastic packaging for a fraction of the price .
Happy days

I love it. Buy multipacks at the airport. The best one I've used.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 17/12/2022 08:50

It’s ok, it agree if they are really dry the 8 hr skin protector is better (if a bit greasy).

the best lip balm for really chapped/ bad condition lips is o’keeffe’s in the orange tube. I had horribly scabbed bleeding lips for over a year that nothing could fix. A couple of weeks of o’keefes and they were perfect. Honestly, it is a miracle worker.

LynneBenfield · 17/12/2022 08:53

I hate the smell of 8hr cream, plus I’m not keen on the petrolatum type texture.

I much prefer the Blistex lip cream in the red/blue/white metal tube. It was discontinued for a couple of years but it’s back now, the formulation hasn’t changed and it still works wonders on sore, dry and cracked lips.

TheVanguardSix · 17/12/2022 08:59

Ironically I end up with dry lips whenever I’ve used it.

My favourite is Bioderma Atoderm stick. It’s the best I’ve ever used and at 50 (and a former model turned makeup artist), I really have tried ‘em all.

Useitorloseit · 17/12/2022 09:16

Hmmmm a lot of mixed opinions there, thank you all! I'll update if I do decide to splash out, maybe the Nuxe might be a better place to start.

I second the entire Atoderm range... the shower oil is brilliant for anyone (well, me) who suffers with ezcema. But I like the Nuxe balm, the Elemis Minty Moisture lip salve and LRP Cicaplast lip balm too. There's one of them in every coat pocket, with dog poo bags.

MillyMollyManky · 17/12/2022 16:01

Another vote for the normal 8 hour cream.

dizzyupthegirl86 · 17/12/2022 19:34

I like the stick version, it feels lovely but for how quickly I use it, I can’t justify the price when there are so many other good ones!

it’s a bit lighter than just using the normal eight hour cream. The nuxe one in the pot is very good, and the texture close ish to eight hour cream when it’s on the lips. I think the o’keeffe stick one is equally as good but I prefer the application. Didn’t love the one in the pot.

having said that, I always go back to carmex - squeezy tube in the day and the pot before bed!

isthismylifenow · 17/12/2022 19:44

I have the lipstick version of a 8hr balm, I have two colours and a clear and I just use it instead of lipstick each day. I had the tub but I just found it a bit of a faff getting the lid off and having to put my fingers in. But that is just my issue really.

But I am a big fan of normal 8hr cream, I use it for so many things. Used it today in fact as I got stung, and it's soothed it pretty well. And I used only this cream post surgery on my scar, and it's honestly hardly noticeable now.
