Revlon One Step-AMAZING

I've had this sitting in the bottom drawer in my bedroom cabinet for a couple of months now, and never really been inclined to try it as seemed a lot of faff… It was a random birthday present!

However, this morning, I had a bit of time and thought I would try it.

Oh. My. God! It is amazing.

I have hair that is somewhere between my chin and shoulders. Quite fine but lots of it! And sort of wavy. It completely sorted my hair out. I used it with wet hair and it took about 10 mins. I probably should have let it air dry a bit more and would have been quicker

I now have hair that I usually only get after a hairdresser blow dry. Silky smooth, loads of volume and nicely tucked under.

The brush is BIG and I think unless you have longer hair, it won't work to curl short/mid length but did a great job, and roots are nicely dry too.

Has 3 settings-cold, low and high. I only used low as high was quite hot but was pleased with it

This shall become a tool I use whenever I wash my hair now!

Yup, I love mine too. I have thick wavy hair similar length to yours, prone to frizz, and it gives me a wavy Hollywood hairdresser blow-dry.

AnyFucker · 15/12/2022 13:07

Yes, I like it too. My hair just touches my shoulders and isn’t too short to use this bit of kit.

Peridot1 · 15/12/2022 13:09

I love mine too. Bought after a recommendation on here a couple of years ago. There is a short hair version too I think.

n3wnamewhodis · 15/12/2022 13:10

I have a Babyliss Big Hair given to me as a gift and avoided using it till recently. I now feel like I had one (hair) life before the Big Hair and one that started the day I picked it up. Game changer.

SorayaJane · 15/12/2022 13:14

Yeah it's amazing. One of the best MN recommendations. I wash my hair daily normally but when I when I didn't Found second day hair still had the volume and my ends seemed less frizzy and healthier. It's like a salon blow dry finish I love it. Sectioning properly really helps.

70sDuvet · 15/12/2022 19:18

After a shower ill walk about for as long as I have time with my hair up in a hair turban.

Then I usually put on mousse, heat protectant, all the big volume products I can find (I have very fine thinning hair) shove my head upside down and dry with a normal hairdryer until 80% dry.

Then use the revlon in sections until finished. It's so easy to get a near hairdresser type blow-dry. I've never had a big-hair but from what I can gather it doesn't Tangle your hair around the brush as it only has one large barrell. It also won't give you curly ends with longer hair like the big brush might do (or perhaps others are less cack handed than me)
BUT it smooths all over and gives loads of root volume and looks like you've used a proper round brush and pulled hard to get a nice shiny finish.

I looovvve mine

Totally agree, the only beauty product I’ve bought which lives up to its hype. The trick is to wait until your hair is nearly dry before using.

Are you able to share a link for this please

I can't get on with mine at all, it takes ages and makes my hair frizzy, not sure where I'm going wrong with it.

I blast mine with the hairdryer first then use the one step to style it, takes 5 mins, it's fab.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/12/2022 21:47

They're in Aldi ATM for £32 iirc.

theswoot · 15/12/2022 21:50

They do a shorter hair version that has a slightly smaller barrel, for those pondering on the thread.

I liked mine and still have it but over time found it made my ends too crispy, which is not a problem I’ve had before. I always used heat protector and blow dried to damp first so guess it just wasn’t meant to be!

ScarlettRosemary · 18/12/2022 21:32

I was very disappointed in it myself after reading so many good reviews. I have fine shoulder length hair and whilst it blow dried it straight nicely it did absolutely nothing to give my hair any volume so will be going back to my babyliss. I think it seems to be better for those with thicker hair.

Tinks15 · 18/12/2022 22:37

@70sDuvet can I ask what volume products you use?

Bigheartsshapelittleminds · 18/12/2022 22:52

I love mine too. I hardly ever use my hair dryer or straighteners now. It gives my hair volume but still smooth.

ChicCroissant · 18/12/2022 23:11

I bought the Tresemme version of the Revlon One Step for my DD, I'd heard the Revlon one does get very hot (which helps with the styling, obviously) and that the Tresemme was a bit cooler. It does make hair smooth and swishy but as a PP said, it's not great at curling the ends. DD has long straight hair and it is ideal on that type of hair, and easy to use.

Nat6999 · 19/12/2022 00:26

The new Shark one is brilliant, it has better reviews than the Dyson one.

Peridot1 · 19/12/2022 09:00

A lot more expensive than the Revlon one though @Nat6999. And has attachments I wouldn’t ever use so a bit of a waste in that respect.

I might look at the Tresemme one @ChicCroissant as like @theswoot the Revlon on does make my ends a bit dry and damaged too. Although I’m not great at using heat protection products so I should do that really.

ChicCroissant · 19/12/2022 10:40

I haven't compared the two and I have only used the Tresemme one but that's good (it also does my short, straight bob quite well too so I pinch it off her occasionally!)

ModeWeasel · 19/12/2022 10:47

What styling and heat protectant products do you use with this please?

I have fine fairly straight shoulder length hair.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/12/2022 12:32

I use VO5 light serum or L'Oreal extraordinary oil just on the ends. I use it 4x a week and do t have any issues with split ends, I just blast it with my drier first. I can imagine if you dried your hair with it,you'd end up frying it.
