Supersoft sweatshirt

Ideally like the Selfish Mother brand ones, but with no lettering on the front?
I’ve got a few of the SM ones and I love them, but I would love some plain ones. I presumed they bought their sweatshirts from a wholesaler and printed onto them, but I can’t find any similar plain ones anywhere. Does anyone have any recommendations for any supersoft not-too-expensive sweatshirt? Thanks in advance.

BAM sweatshirts are very soft
There are good reductions in the sales

Could it be a hoodie rather than sweatshirt? Sweaty Betty Liberate Fleece hoodies are lovely.

I believe you can order from Dunnes Stores in the UK now. They are an Irish/Northern Irish chain store.

Anyway they have a collection called x Helen Steele for women's sportswear and the sweatshirts are THE softest sweatshirts I've ever come across. They wash really well and don't fade or bobble. I belive they are around £8 each. They do come up slightly big imo, but I have no boobs which could influence my opinion.

Everything in the brand is really good, leggings, sports vests etc have all exceeded my expectations for the price.

Also Dunnes have some lovely collections with other designers like Carolyn Donnelly and their Savida line is the more premium stuff but still very well priced.

£8?

Who's being exploited for that price?!

70sDuvet · 15/12/2022 20:55

Probably the same people who are being exploited for the majority of clothes on the High Street and higher up the chain.

Unless you look for ethical clothing stores and research the sources of their materials, labour and shipping it doesn't matter if you pay £8 or £800 someone's being exploited. Jonny Boden doesn't pay his Bangladeshi labourers any better than Dunnes do, he just sends an annoying email with your name in it.

Fast fashion doesn't mean the price of the original item, its a out how many times you wear it and how long it lasts. I have vest tops from the above brand that cost £1.50 that I've been wearing for 22 years. So to me that implys good quality. I dont know where they are made, yes at that price someone is being exploited - but I also have £70 vest tops from majique filature...I have no idea about their chain of practice, is it good or bad? So far to me the £70 is fast fashion as I only wore it twice last summer as the weather was shite.

I agree that higher prices don't necessarily mean someone isn't being exploited and that we need to look for ethical brands. So my point still stands that buying a sweatshirt for £8 is probably bad. There just is no way of making money from that amount without paying workers pennies. I don't think dunnes is a charity. Someone is getting totally fucked.

70sDuvet · 16/12/2022 11:39

I totally I agree with you on that point.
But even the Selfish Mother sweatshirts could come from a sweatshop, it doesn't say on their website where they are sourced only that they donate to charity after purchase.

I like hush sweatshirts but pretty pricy at £50 ish
but very soft
