Are Gucci trainers worth it?

Thinking of treating myself to a pair, do they stay in good condition if worn regularly? I want the Ace ones with the bee on.

Also, they look massive.. I'm a uk 4, wondering if I would need a 3 in these? Will have to go try them on at Selfridges I think!

they are worth it if you love them. However I think it's pointless to spend money & save them for "good" particularly when it's something that goes in & out of fashion. So if you wear them lots they will wear out but does that matter?

panko · 11/12/2022 10:27

Only you can judge

MeJane · 11/12/2022 10:28

Only you can say if they are worth it as they have to be worth it to you.

Some people wouldn't think £600 (or whatever it is) is expensive for shoes. Others would think them expensive but worth it for something they really loved and would enjoy wearing and some people would rather pay £600 to not have to wear them as they are common as muck/monstrous.

One man's trash is another man's treasure and all that jazz.

From a purely financial point of view they probably aren't 'worth it'. They won't be better quality than other trainers that cost £100.

ErinAndTonic · 11/12/2022 10:56

I guess I don't mean are they worth £600 or is it ok to spend £600 on trainers as I know that's variable.

Maybe I mean more like have people been happy with them when they've bought them or thought the quality didn't match up and were disappointed.

I've only got their handbags/accessories and yet to buy any trainers from a designer brand so wasn't sure if they were style over substance or not.

I've had a couple of pairs of designer trainers and I don't think they are as good as Nikes etc. I think at this price point you are better sticking with the experts. I have some Mary Katranzou x Adidas that are much better.

If I was buying a Gucci shoe I'd stick to their Italian leather - something they know all about.

IntentionalError · 11/12/2022 11:09

Objectively, no. Gucci trainers are ridiculously overpriced branded tat. A pair of Nike or Adidas or Puma trainers are better quality & more durable for a fraction of the price.
But, subjectively, if you want them and you can afford them and you can justify the price to yourself to buy into the Gucci brand and be seen wearing it, that’s up to you.

pepperaunt · 11/12/2022 11:27

I’ve had a pair of Gucci trainers for about 5 years and wear them a lot. They’re still in great shape. My usual shoe size is 36.5 but I wear a 35 in these

boatahoy · 11/12/2022 12:05

They do last as I wear them most of the time when not at work. I would take one size down as they are huge.

ErinAndTonic · 11/12/2022 19:03

Thanks everyone. I'll try a pair on and see how comfy they are - noted to go a size or so down 😊

This is how I feel about it too. If you want to spend hundreds on trainers, I'd go with the higher end sports branded ones tbh.

If you want designer shoes or specifically Gucci shoes, I'd get something they are experts at (eg loafers)

MagicMatilda · 12/12/2022 01:47

I’ve had mine a good few years and they still look good. They’ve been in the washing machine a lot though!

SD1978 · 12/12/2022 06:01

If they mean someone to you, yes. They are not better than any other leather trainers that are well made, you're paying for the name. If you're happy to, go for it.

FlairBand · 12/12/2022 06:17

I have the ones you mention and I like them as trey dress up an outfit without making a effort iykwim.
however, they’re not really very comfortable, the sole and leather is quite hard and after a whole day my feet tend to get a bit sore compared to eg Nike (or Ugg!). I e had them two years and they still look ok, I change the laces to keep them looking newer.
Not sure I would buy again

whirlyhead · 12/12/2022 06:25

I was given a pair as a present and they are massive! You definitely need to go down a size. They are very pretty, but at the end Of the day they’re just a pair of trainers and that’s a lot of money to pay. I don’t wear them very much as I have more comfortable pairs.

Gruelle · 12/12/2022 06:29

Goodness. Is this S&B or Killjoy Central?

Just checking …

showysnowy · 12/12/2022 06:36

I have the Ace ones and in 5 years I haven't worn it much. They are very uncomfortable as they rub and give you sore feet. In the summer it's worse as your feet then get sweaty and make it worse with the rubbing and in the winter I find them too cold to wear as they are real leather. I got the one in the picture as a present and I absolutely love them and so comfy as well. I had to go a size down in the ace and 1/2 a size down in the sneakers.

Are Gucci trainers worth it?
PortiasBiscuit · 12/12/2022 06:43

Maybe get a tee shirt at the same time, with a logo:
“I am wearing £600 Gucci Trainers”

It would be shame to spend all that money and then people not notice them.

Gruelle · 12/12/2022 06:56

@PortiasBiscuit Do you generally ask other people the price of their clothing? If not, I’m puzzled that you find it acceptable to attack the OP for even considering spending her own money on something she likes the look of.

MN is such a strange place. Posters with husbands spending oodles of money on stupid hobbies, excoriating a woman for not shopping exclusively at Tesco or charity shops. Posters with cars, or posters who go on expensive holidays, or out drinking with friends - telling another woman that spending money on clothing or footwear is somehow immoral or greedy …

Why read this board if you don’t like the premise?

But if you know, you know 😁

I dont wear branded items because I want the world to know they're branded items. I steer clear of handbags like LV for that very reason.

Seems an unnecessary reply when I posted this in style & beauty, not AIBU. I never said am I unreasonable to want them, simply asked what people thought and several people have answered me so all good.

I have two pairs of Gucci trainers and I absolutely love them.

Annabel073 · 12/12/2022 14:43

I find Gucci trainers are often long and narrow so usually size down. They're generally fine for walking around in every day. I'm someone who can happily run in heels though.

Penguinsmum · 12/12/2022 14:52

I love mine too. Comfy. Needed to size down as they came up big.

Narrow is good news to me, I struggle with shoes like Vans as my feet aren't wide enough. I'll try a 3 for sure. Thanks!
