Can I wear camel?

I'm 50 and have highlighted blonde hair. My natural colour is mousey brown and my skin has pink undertones but pale. Would I be able to carry off a camel jumper ?

Sounds like we've got similar colouring and I steer away from these colours as I feel they make me look washed out

I had my colours done some years ago. I was told I could wear camel. I am a soft autumn with definite yellow undertones. Not sure how it would work with pink undertones. Try it on and see what you think.

PeaceJoySleep · 10/12/2022 20:26

I have different colouring, auburn hair, green eyes and kind of pale neutral or pinkish (but not flushed) skin. Not sure. Not yellow though.

I always feel that camel does not work on me which is a shame. I like it. I'm a dark autumn. I'm off to google a soft autumn.

PeaceJoySleep · 10/12/2022 20:28

So ochre or ecru would work better on a soft autumn?

spidersenses · 10/12/2022 20:29

Camel can have different undertones. There are certain shades of camel that look awful on me. But some work really well. I'm a winter with pale skin, dark hair and dark eyes. I really think it depends on the specific colour make up.

This made me laugh, under suggested threads is 'dressing for Egypt'.

Camel, Egypt........

Anyway, to answer your question, i agree with others, depends on the shade, some can work, others will wash out so experiment with your make up on as you would normally wear it.

I have similar colouring and can't wear camel. It doesn't suit me at all.

Autumnisclose · 10/12/2022 21:19

Sigh. I was trying to look sophisticated and had an image of a camel jumper and swooshing my hair about. Back to the drawing board then.

How do you find out your colour "season"? Sounds interesting!

CatsEatDogs · 11/12/2022 08:17

Pink undertones in skin suggests a cool colouring, whereas camel is generally as warm a colour as is possible to get. Which is why camel and similar colours are nowhere near the cool seasons’ pallette. I would guess it wouldn’t suit you at all op, as it doesn’t me either, but you’ll only know for sure if you try it. Grey is an alternative of a neutral which suits people with cool colouring

Are you warm or cool skin tone?
If you’re warm you will suit gold jewellery and you will suit camel. Does gold jewellery give you a healthy glow? Does silver look cold against your skin and give you a washed out look? Does it look “cheap” on you? If so, you’ve got warm colouring.

If you’ve got cool colouring gold will look brassy and cheap against your skin. It will look too yellow and a bit “dirty”. Silver by contrast will look clean, crisp, elegant and complement your natural coolness. Camel won’t suit you so you should go for taupe or pale grey.
