Does anyone know a good shampoo for frizzy dry hair. Tried a few over the years none seem to make a difference. Thanks for any help.

What sort of texture is your natural hair?

Mine is fine, naturally wavy and frizzy, I find using olaplex and redken (the red or white ones) and the colour wow dream coat along with olaplex no 6 and no 7 is my dream combination! Also having an airwrap (huge investment I know) has totally changed the game, now 2 years in my hair isn't as heat damaged and that's made it much less frizzy too. Silk pillowcases are a winner too, I wake up without frizz too.

I’ve just started using Liz Earle stuff and it’s great. Frizz gone

Nik2879 · 09/12/2022 20:17

Thanks, its normal not to fine or thick just mega frizzy. Only time it looks nice is if I go the hairdressers so dont know if its more the technique of how they blow dry it which obviously I cant do but I know In not using the right shampoo either so need to try everything. Fed up of it looking such a mess all the time.

I use kerastase conditioner mask, the nutritive masquintense that comes in a white pot with an orange lid. It's the only thing that works for me and it means it looks nice when straightened instead of refrizzing.

monsteronahill · 09/12/2022 20:24

How do you dry your hair? A lot of frizz on more straight hair types can be helped with how you blow dry - down the shaft smooths the frizz and hair follicles. A pain on the arms, but makes a difference imo!

BorisJohnsonsHair · 09/12/2022 20:27

Try this, just once and see how well it works.

When your hair is completely sopping wet, scrunch in some mousse or gel, then leave it alone to dry. No more frizz.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 09/12/2022 20:28

I’ve tried a lot of different (and some very pricey) options but am currently having the best ever results from the Drybar Liquid Glass Shampoo and Conditioner and the Miracle Sealant blow dry spray. It’s the shiniest and smoothest my hair has looked in years and the blowdry lasts at least 3 days.

Allmarbleslost · 09/12/2022 20:30

If you're hairs frizzy you need a good conditioner rather than shampoo

boboshmobo · 09/12/2022 20:31

It's probably curly. My hair is horrendous without product and super curly when styled but properly !
Have you every tried using curl products and diffusing. ?

Murasakispillowbook · 09/12/2022 20:34

Keratin! Changed my life! Only the Trsemme stuff but I don't need to use straighteners at all now. Just smooth with a natural kink.

Nik2879 · 09/12/2022 21:36

Thanks so much everyone will try out the suggestions.

Do I need a leave in conditioner do you think?

Mine improved drastically when I switched to silicone free shampoos. Shampoo bars are really good too. I'm in the same camp as you, only feel nice after being at the hairdressers.

33goingon64 · 09/12/2022 22:08

Best find I've had for frizzy hair is a leave in conditioner with argan oil - can't remember name but I bought it at Sally's. Always makes my frizzy hair look sleek.

Nik2879 · 10/12/2022 09:04

@33goingon64 thanks so much will try and find it.

K18 mask has reduced frizz a lot.

That stuff is amazing!

FloozingThePlot · 10/12/2022 14:01

Answering a question you didn't ask but... Main thing that has helped my hair be less frizzy is washing it less 😊

Lbnc2021 · 10/12/2022 14:11

I got a keratin blow dry and it’s literally changed my life!

SnowyPheasants · 10/12/2022 15:43

Against the grain but my frizz has calmed down a ton since i stopped buying wonder products. I just use the kerastase mask like a pp above and a very small touch of leave in protection conditioner. Any brand. I leave wavy or blow dry smooth and much less frizz than when i spent tons of money on products to fight it.
Weird isn't it?

Products that made my naturally frizzy hair worse:
Wow dream coat.
Keratin.
Olaplex.
Aussie serum.
Curly girl products.

What helped:
Using a lot less in general.
A decent mask (Liz earle or kerastase)
Tiny bit of heat protection.
Using a britta filter in the rinse stage. Local water can exacerbate frizz to the point where no amount of product can help.

Nik2879 · 10/12/2022 16:27

@SnowyPheasants thanks thats good to know. Some of them cost a fortune. Will start with a good mask condition then and see if that helps.

Never thought I’d buy a Garnier shampoo as I assumed to them to be cheap shite, BUT, the only shampoo that cured my frizz is Garnier Ultimate Blends cocoa butter and coconut oil shampoo. I use the Cantù conditioner. Both are cheap and worth a shot.
