Leather or not?

Hello, just looking for thoughts please. I got a fake leather jacket from primark by chance. I've liked wearing it and it dresses up any outfit. It smelt funny though and washing it didn't do anything. Then it tore so I'm looking for another. I was planning to get a real one but they are so expensive. However, fake ones not from primark are also pretty expensive. Is it worth getting a real one?

I'd go leather over pleather or fake faux leather every day of the week. The cows that the leather is retrieved from have been killed for their meat so I have no moral objections to using what is left over from that as a means to cover myself.

That said, here are some suggestions from Next and of all places M&S that you might like:

Not really, @LookItsMeAgain, leather is a co-product not a bi-product. And depending on the quality of the leather is can in fact be the main product - worth more than the meat.

I don't wear plastic for ethical reasons. I have a beautiful leather biker jacket from TU from about 5 years ago that just gets better and better. Last time I looked they did a similar one in their Premium range for excellent value.

There are much better vegan leathers now @clodaghrogers - not just plastic based. It’s an oversimplification to assume that animal leather is better environmentally than vegan leather. The amount of greenhouse gases produced by animal farming - to produce animal leather - has to be taken into account, as well as biodegradability. Some vegan leather will biodegrade so buying this rather than animal leather is a great option. This is an interesting article.

I wore my long suede leather coat today that's 17 years old. Still looks good and very warm. My leather biker style and blazer jackets are at least years old as well. They are worth the investment.

I got one in M&Co. Real leather £80
I think they had priced it wrong. It is fantastic. You don't need to spend hundreds
