Deodorant for vag area/ crotch? (TMI sorry)

I don’t sweat too much anywhere else but find the top of my legs (groin) sweats really bad. I have to wash this area and shower twice a day because of it. The area when it sweats smells like bad B/O (like armpit stank). It’s so wierd because I never get this in my armpits, which would be a more normal and acceptable place for it 🙄… And I’m so self conscious of it. No one has ever said anything about it but I would be mortified if anyone noticed. And I wonder what if people have noticed and are just being polite and not saying anything… The shame … 😳

Does anyone else have this problem? If so can you recommend a deodorant that’s gentle (but effective!) enough for this area?

Modibodi moisture wicking underwear is great for this.

Grimchmas · 10/12/2022 03:49

There is a link between talc being used in the crotch area and cervical cancer, so please don't use talc around there. There are some non-talc containing alternatives IIRC.

Furrybutts · 10/12/2022 04:46

I started getting this in one leg crease only, some months ago.
Was convinced it was some kind of bacterial infection because the smell was rank. Xmas Confused

Skin swab came back clear.

I now use medicated talc each morning after my shower.
I sprinkle it into my hand and gentle rub it into the crease to avoid any getting inside me.

Stop wearing polyester trousers

rcat74 · 10/12/2022 04:57

Perimenopause can cause this and persimmon soap is good but I’ve only found it on Amazon. I don’t think the femfresh ‘talc’ is the same as the dangerous talcum powder.

wetpebbles · 10/12/2022 05:28

Try a bidet/sitz bath thats sits in your toilet pan,
I had a sweat rash and found that any product made it worse except for bathing with water and after drying apply a natural barrier cream like Vaseline

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 10/12/2022 05:45

You can get talc free powder. Talc has been linked to cancer I think. In fact, I’m not sure if the much loved on here liquid talc from Asda is talc free.

Tanfastic · 10/12/2022 06:11

I'm a sweaty beast (have hyperhidross)I use a roll on antiperspirant in that area and it works a treat.

Out of interest is baby powder dangerous? I use it all the time on my torso mainly( under boobs too) as I love the silky feel of it after a shower.

BananaBender · 10/12/2022 06:27

@Tanfastic Genuine talc is dangerous. It’s been linked to cancer of the female reproductive system if it’s been used in the groin area. Most talcum powders no longer contain genuine talc so just check the ingredients list on the bottle.

MrsSchadenfreude · 10/12/2022 06:36

Wash the leg crease with Hibiscrub.

schmalex · 10/12/2022 07:41

@Ruthietuthie try Nuud - it's a cream that works as a deodorant by killing the bacteria. I use it instead of antiperspirant and only need to apply it every 4-7 days (depending on time of year).

Ackity · 10/12/2022 07:46

If you must use a deodorant, use a natural one like from the natural deodorant co. Antiperspirants are so bad for us!

HedgehogB · 10/12/2022 07:49

Try Tropic deodorant cream , available from their website

achangeisafoot · 10/12/2022 07:58

The natural deodorant company is amazing for stopping smell

FoxyLadyBOOtique · 10/12/2022 08:30

When this was a problem for me, a hefty dose of vitamin B1 (thiamine) each day was very effective.

Maybe try 100mg with your breakfast and see how that goes?

StarlightLady · 10/12/2022 08:35

OP, l agree with others, avoid talc. And if problems persist seek medical help. In the meantime you could try Brazilian knickers. They may be a briefer cut but they do tend not to have tight elastic on the leg holes.

Grimchmas · 10/12/2022 08:43

Tanfastic ·

Talc is fine if it's not used near your vulva.

I don't use it there but don't people use baby powder on their babies any longer then or is baby powder talc free?

BananaBender · 10/12/2022 12:11

It’s talc free in my country. It’s usually cornstarch now.

StarlightLady · 10/12/2022 17:27

For those unaware, talc has been reported to have cancer links. I am not qualified to comment how accurate this is however.

That’s interesting, I had no idea b vitamins deficiency could cause sweating … I have found past couple of weeks that I have been getting a sore in the corners of my mouth, like a crack in the corners of my mouth. It’s just now healed but I find it happens when I’m low on b vitamins

OP posts:
FoxyLadyBOOtique · 11/12/2022 08:10

I used to get the sore cracks (angular cheilitis?) in the corners of my lips. B2 deficiency I believe. Maybe you need a really decent B complex.

FoxyLadyBOOtique · 11/12/2022 08:12

Oh the B1 didn’t prevent the sweating in that area, but amazingly, the sweat didn’t smell of anything.

Jibo · 11/12/2022 10:12

You could look into getting the area botoxed - works a treat for excessive sweating on armpits!
