Best foundation for young teenager?

kittensinthekitchen · 08/12/2022 23:33

My youngest is 14 and has decided she'd like to try foundation. She usually just uses a bit of concealer on her face, with eye makeup.

Any recommendations to a not-too-heavy, affordable, natural looking, liquid foundation for young skin. She does get spots, but isn't too bad, and always removes her makeup as soon as she's home for the day. Preferably high street so we can check for a colour match before buying.

Thanks Flowers

The kind I always used as a teenager and have actually come back round top is the kind that is like a solid foundation you put in with a sponge and it takes a slightly powdery finish when on? Not sure I'm explaining that well but it's very easy to use and to blend into the skin and very quick to put on.

As a teen I used a collection 2000 one I think but I'm currently using a brilliant Hema one which is unavailable in the UK.

I've done a quick Google and it seems they are called compacts, here's an example

Sorry for the typos in that, hopefully made sense...

I've started using a 'compact' for day to day and now only use liquid foundation for a special occasion.

Rimmel long lasting (red lid) brilliant high street foundation. Buildable so it can be light to full coverage, decent staying power and good range of shades that don't oxidise.
If she'd prefer something lighter IT cosmetic cc cream is fab and still gives decent coverage.

Bareminerals original or their complexion rescue is great. Pricey, but great for the skin and vegan etc.

Great suggestions to look at, thank you so much ❤️

I bought some bare minerals for myself but was too light so I have given it to my 15yo daughter. Its really good on, hides spots well but just a very light dusting doesn't really look like foundation as such.

Unless she's got really bad skin I would discourage a teenager from wearing foundation. Her skin will never look better so why not show it off? I'd be encouraging her to try a decent tinted moisturiser or BB cream instead.

I agree the Rimmel is a really good one. You can mix with with a bit of moisturiser for lighter coverage but you can also dab it on to cover spots like a concealer and it is brilliant for this. DS nicks mine to hide spots when he goes out! It's very light but non-drying and long lasting. Also affordable for teens.
