Missing eyebrows......please help.

i've got thick healthy hair that is a joy to wash and style, so in that respect i'm blessed. However, at the age of 64 i'm so missing my lovely eyebrows that perfectly framed my face. To say they're sparse would be an under statement, they've practically disappeared. I've got a good eyebrow pencil to fill them in and it only takes a few minutes, so that's good.

I guess this is a legacy of the menopause, but is they're anything available on the market that is tried and tested to promote regrowth? or should i just save my money and accept i'll never see them again.

Ooh, following with interest. Perimenopause has stollen about 80% of my brows!

Spliffle · 06/12/2022 16:24

How good is your intake of vitamins & iron rich food? The body often sheds what it can't maintain when it's under stress. Ditto your bloody flow & exercise. Are you keeping moving?

Adultchildofelderlyparents · 06/12/2022 16:24

That should say "stolen"!
I'm actually eating some stollen as a pre-Christmas snack, it's clearly gone to my brain.

HugHeart · 06/12/2022 16:32

If it's the outer part of your eyebrows then you might get a thyroid check. Can be a sign of low thyroid hormones (not medical)

HugHeart · 06/12/2022 16:34

Glad you've hit the stollen @Adultchildofelderlyparents 😁

I'm munching lebkuchen 🎄

tillytoodles1 · 06/12/2022 16:34

Micrblading. I had mine done three years ago and a top up every eighteen months.

i'm very active, on the go all the time. I have an app on my phone that records my steps, i'm up to 7000 for today. My diet is good too. my only weakness is chocolate.

I used RapidBrow and it really helped. Mine were very sparse from over-plucking, from back in the day when really thin eyebrows were the fashion.

It's not cheap - £37 a tube in Boots, and I needed 3 tubes - but it did genuinely work.

BIWI · 06/12/2022 16:37

Personally I'd avoid microblading because I think it looks really obvious that it's not natural (apologies if this isn't the case for you @tillytoodles1!)

AntennaReborn · 06/12/2022 16:40

I second Rapid Brow, I noticed a difference after about 3 or 4 weeks of using it

I have also recently switched to the Ordinary brow serum which is much cheaper (£12) and 4 weeks in it seems to be working as well for me as the Rapid Brow so far

starsareblazing · 06/12/2022 16:51

Microblading can be amazing, I love mine and would definitely recommend it if you can find someone you trust and like the other examples of their work. I have half of each eyebrow missing naturally - probably didn't help that I overplucked them as a teenager! - got mine done a couple of years ago and so far have had one top up about 6 months ago.

NoelNoNoel · 06/12/2022 16:53

Have you no eyebrows or are they there but really fair? If the second is the case you could have them tinted.

Livedandlearned · 06/12/2022 16:58

When I started taking a complete B vitamin complex my eyebrows became amazing!

Yes I do have hair, but it's pretty sparse and maybe tinting could be an option thanks.

Thank you for all your replies, really interesting to read especially from those who have the same problem.

I'm not keen on micro blading because I don't know anyone who's had it done to look at their results and my current morning routine is really quick and effective for filling them in.

I think I'd rather go down the road suggested, on using a serum to promote growth.

I also have mine tinted@Tolkienista and it makes a massive difference - especially as some of my eyebrow hairs that are there, have had the temerity to turn white!

Yep, I think this could work for me as when I've looked at my eyebrows in bright light, there are more there than I first thought, so tinting could work.

Dear Lord since the menopause mine have gone feral! I could rival Denis Healy ( for those who are young Google him).

Wanna swap?
