The No Belt look

I keep noticing fashion reels on FB (how did I get sucked in?!) where the person wears jeans with a jumper tucked in and no belt. It looks unfinished to me. Has anyone else noticed, and is it a Thing? Looks a bit rubbish imo, but I guess I'm always behind the curve!

The picture looks normal to me.

I very rarely wear a belt with jeans.

French tuck style looks unbelievably messy and unkempt to me. I know it's supposed to be fashionable but I can't see why.

I'm currently struggling with belts as they just seem to dig in and I think at a size 16, I'll need an XL. Interesting to read that many dont wear belts as I keep seeing Instagram posts saying it's a point of interest!

Namechangeforthis88 · 16/01/2023 07:15

Not even sure I have a belt. My mum (70s) would be disappointed if she knew. Thinking of searching for one as the weight loss is going better and my fave trousers are getting loose.

JofraArchersFastestBall · 16/01/2023 07:22

I used to wear a belt with jeans when everything was low rise, as otherwise my bum would show when I bent down 🫣
Now I'm wearing high waisted jeans I don't bother with a belt.

I don't need a vent to keep trousers up. And i don't like a belt because of the restriction. I only wear one to create a waist in dresses without one. I also love the french tuck!

I haven’t worn a belt in about 20 years. So uncomfortable. I am all about the comfort factor nowadays and I think since covid etc people seem to feel the same. I see less people wearing tight clothes, more women getting rid of bras and I’m wearing joggers out of the house for the first time since I was about 11 ….!

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 16/01/2023 07:46

I've not worn a belt in years.

I think Meghan Markle is short-torsoed and actually doesn’t have a pronounced waist, so belted garments don’t particularly suit her.

3points · 16/01/2023 11:47

I agree with PP that it depends on your torso length and boobage.
The woman in the photo you posted, Op has a lovely figure however I think her torso is on the short end and a belt would have made her look all legs.
Big boobs are tricky with belts. Belts are actually quite tricky to wear unless you have a proportionate (or long) and slim torso with medium or small breasts.

I only wear a belt if my trousers are too loose. Didn't realise it was a thing to wear them even if your clothes fit properly.

rhiannon1967 · 16/01/2023 15:33

How strange. I'm 55 and wear jeans all the time. Currently wide leg or flares, and I've worn a belt with them my whole life. Don't think I've ever worn jeans without a belt.
A lot of times though I find that to get jeans to fit on my bum and hips I get a huge gaping at the back so need the belt to pull it in. Which is strange as I'm the opposite of an hourglass, I'm a straight up and down rectangle.

KirstenBlest · 16/01/2023 15:40

@rhiannon1967 , are you me?
I always wear a belt with jeans too otherwise they creep down slowly.

highfidelity · 16/01/2023 19:45

One can't scroll through IG without seeing every influencer wearing the same Celine and Gucci belts. No thank you, would rather go without.

Also, my jeans and trousers fit me, so have no need to wear a belt 🤷🏻‍♀️

schoolworries22 · 16/01/2023 20:15

Another one who only wears a belt over a dress. Never / very very rarely with jeans or trousers
