Anyone else with ridiculously wide feet?

Where do you buy your shoes? I have very wide feet especially around the toes and can’t seem to find anything that doesn’t hurt my feet after a day of wear. Even so called wide-fit shoes. Do I have to remain housebound and barefoot forever?

Skechers 4 flex. So comfy.

I havé wide and square feet too, but also narrow ankles, I wish they wouldn’t assume that feet are wide all the way down!

i hit some fitflop hiking books half a size bigger, as they are lace up can tighten where need to ditto loosen. I absolutely love them and have been living in them but I need to waterproof them as they’re not (they have mesh on them so may not be able to be). They are so warm and also squishy underfoot, I find the issue with barefoot type shoes I’d there’s no cushioning and I have chronic pain and have to have lots.

else men’s Skechers have done decent winter boots I was eyeing, I’ve got rieker second hand wool lined boots that are ace (side zip with ankle cuff).

i basically have to reject anything that doesn’t have a square toe, and many of the M&S and similar ranges don’t

good luck

Im a wide size 8 with bunions and flat feet. Another vote for merrell here, i wear their boots in winter and their sandals in summer. Depending what size you are, you might just want to switch to men's shoes, I've just got a pair of men's timberland boots which fit perfectly but I think men's ranges may only start at a 7. Also wear Ugg boots in winter which are so comfortable but terrible for flat feet.
And I've just discovered vionics trainers which are wide fit and shaped with arch support.
I think a lot will depend on where your feet are wide because a lot of the brands mentioned are very painful on my bunions - fitflop, birkenstock, Skechers etc.

Size 3 wide here and I live in Nike Zoom Flys. I did go to Clark's recently and nearly cried with relief when I fitted their 3 wide boots. Sole Bliss was too narrow for me unfortunately and some of the styles were very grannyish.

This eternal trend for narrow/almond toes is such an unutterable pain in the arse, especially in winter. I actually quite like my feet, but they're widest at the toe and I simply cannot wear 99% of shoes. It's infuriating. (Partly because I'm stubborn and refuse to wear things that hurt, even slightly.)

All winter long the only shoes I can wear out of doors are my Blundstone boots, which I love but god alive it gets boring. I would pay serious money for a pair of loafers that don't hurt!

GettingStuffed · 04/12/2022 10:33

Skechers D'lites are very wide. I have normal wide feet IYSWIM and they're wide enough to wear really thick socks with.

eveoha · 04/12/2022 10:54

Try Gabor shoes - quite stylish - well made and v often square toed - I have size 2 1/2 double g fitting - sadly can’t buy new as tooo ££££ for me - so buy from EBay

catfunk · 04/12/2022 13:50

I have wide feet - I live in Birkenstocks (Arizona and cloggs) and grenson boots in winter, and adidas Stan smiths in wide size.
For going out I'll wear clarks wide fit heels or browse ASOS with the 'wide' filter on.

@Pacificstate
Sole Bliss have some if you’re talking serious money.

pursuedbyablackdog · 04/12/2022 18:21

Clarks mens shoes in extra wide are way more comfy than the womens extra wide. I have very comfy waterproof trainers which accommodate my elephant bunion feet!

PacificState · 04/12/2022 18:47

Thanks @Ihaveamagicwand - I did have a look but I can tell just by looking that the toes are too narrow for me on the loafers. I really need shoes that are shaped like a soup spoon! Seriously considering that Machynlleth woman linked up thread...

Hashtagihearya · 04/12/2022 18:50

Yep, I have had wide feet all my life and I've always worn a size 7 but have issues all the time. Went to get measured other day size 5.5 extra wide EE but I can't find them anywhere except Clarks!

purser25 · 04/12/2022 18:55

Cosy feet mostly older ladies shoes but some exceptions and I think it is dp wider fit shoes again quite a bit for older people but some fine I got a nice comfortable pair of black ankle boots.

twll · 04/12/2022 18:57

I have ridiculously wide feet, and bunions.

Trouble is I'm a Size 4! So no bloody shoes fit

thenewaveragebear1983 · 04/12/2022 19:14

I have one wide foot due to a bunion, and this makes it a nightmare buying shoes! Basically all heels are out, as is anything with any kind of ‘footbed’ and anything else is questionable. For running I require a support running shoe in a mens wide (which is a EE fit I think?) which limits me to one or two brands only. The problem I have now is that my less wide foot is now too narrow for the very wide shoe.

every autumn I try on hundreds of pairs of boots and never find a pair I like, and give up.

weirdly though, I find trainers like converse which are notoriously narrow, fit fine. I have also discovered Ugg milo trainers and now have a black and white pair of leather ones. I think because they lace up very low down towards the toe, it gives a bit more flexibility.

CMOTDibbler · 04/12/2022 19:23

I have wide feet at the front (but not at the heel) and also have arthritis in my big toe joints so need a higher toe box as well (and no heels). I just got some knee length boots from Calla and they are blissfully wide in the right place. I also have some lovely shoes from Sargasso and Grey

PenguinLove1 · 04/12/2022 19:28

Im the same and ive found plus size shops a game changer. Yours and Evans have helped me find nice sandals, knee high boots, walking sandals for summer etc, all in extra wide fit sizing, its been amazing!

Happyhome21 · 04/12/2022 21:25

I have wide toes
High arch
narrow heel

I wear these with dresses

www.leguano.ie/store/p4/Lady_Loop.html#/

ballet shoes always slip off my feet but these stay on all day

They are not leather but need to check if fully vegan

Quveas · 04/12/2022 21:28

Cosyfeet and Sandpiper are my go to shops.

purser25 · 05/12/2022 08:27

I was wrong it is not dp shoes but DB wider fitting shoes they have a little chart inside that you can see what width you are they go very wide you can also get strap extensions.
