Selfridges Advent Calendar - 2022 opening thread 🎄💛

A little late but I thought it start an opening thread for the Selfridges AC. Partially because I enjoy documenting and partly to avoid spoilers for those in the general thread holding off on opening.

As with the other threads, suggest no photos before 7am.

Not sure about today’s but it shouldn’t be difficult to pass on to someone who would like it. Can’t believe there are so few drawers left, feels like we’ve only just started.

Any favourite products for you so far @Zoetrope1 ? I absolutely love the perfumes and my face got on really well with yesterday’s exfoliant.

@Zoetrope1 we have a very similar skincare routine, I also love the Bioessence rose oil!

A Caroline Hirons tip I use with the Paula's choice acid - I shake a little on to my hands and apply direct to the skin that way, rather than use a cotton pad/ball - it goes so much further.

Day 21, Sana Jardin Sandalwood Temple, 5ml, £13

East Indian sandalwood is often burned in and near holy temples as a way of cleansing the spirit and connecting to the divine. Featuring a rich woody bouquet, Sandalwood Temple sings with Moroccan neroli, wrapped in a warming aura of sandalwood, cedar wood, with verdant undertones of Haitian vetiver oil.

I absolutely LOVE this one! It’s warm and woody and vanilla-ey. I love love love it. My favourite perfume discovery across my various advent calendars so far. I’m in love!

Today’s is really lovely. So softly scented and thrilled it’s vegan and cruelty free.

I was disappointed with the other perfumes but I love this one too, although can’t really detect the neroli. It’s lovely and warm, great for winter.

So glad you guys like it too! I’m so tempted to buy the full size. Does anyone know if Selfridges ever do goody bags / gift with purposes? If so, I’ll hold out.

Day 22, 111Skin Vitamin C Brightening Booster, 20ml full size, worth £100

Now formulated with increased Vitamin C levels, this concentrated treatment targets signs of hyperpigmentation, age spots, and uneven skin tone. The booster utilises actives which are designed to inhibit tyrosinase production, both reducing and preventing discolouration

KEY BENEFITS

Skin tone will improve and discolouration is reduced
Vitamin C also offers protection from future pigmentation and signs of ageingo

How to apply:

Shake well before use. Mix 1-2 drops with your moisturiser or apply directly to skin after cleansing and wear sunscreen during the day.

This looks good but I am very skeptical of 111Skin and their ridiculous pricing! £100 for 20ml?!?! Happy to have a vit c product though.

Also v pleased to receive some vitamin C. But disappointed that Selfridges contacted me and said they won’t be sending me a replacement Pat McGrath blush to replace the one that was missing from my calendar because they don’t have any left 😑Apparently I can return the whole calendar for a refund if I want, not very feasible given I’ve opened all but three drawers!

That sucks @SparklySparky - can you ask them to send you a replacement item or ask them to issue a partial refund for the missing item instead? Agree it’s a bit crap if the only solution is to send back the entire calendar at this stage!

It’s very poor isn’t it @Zoetrope1 They won’t do anything other than accept the whole calendar back. Has really put me off buying with them again in the future.

£100?!?! Wow. I’m expecting magical things from today’s. Mine isn’t full but I’m still going to use it, perhaps not on my face though.

😂 oh no @Zoetrope1 hopefully your post will be revealed soon. My favourites are the perfumes - I love all of them, even though one was half full. I’m getting on really well with the BHA too. I’ve most enjoyed the layout of the calendar, no repeats and a different focus each day. It’s also very pretty and looks great under the tree.

My favs so far are:

• Sandalwood temple perfume - my absolute favourite perfume discovery from the ACs
• biossance eye cream - I’ve purchased full price before and this is one of my favourite skincare brands
• Opalex 3 - a staple for me
• barabara sturm hyaluronic serum although I would never pay full price for it
• exfolikate (although it seems to be prolific this year - I think I have 4 or 5 now!)
• Paula’s choice BHA - another staple for me and good travel size
• Ren body serum - haven’t tried it yet but looks promising and I love body products

ive also really enjoyed the layout and packaging. It’s such a beautiful, well curated calendar. And even though most of the perfumes aren’t for me, I love receiving new ones to try. Very happy so far!

Good to know you’re a fan of the eye cream. It has been a lovely calendar.

I adore today’s. I love anything rose scented and this is very strong. I left it in the bathroom to save for my bath later, went in after a while and the bathroom smells of roses. Now I’m considering not lighting it and just keeping it as a room freshener 😂

Love the candle too, beautiful smell and lovely packaging. Bit sad there’s only two days to go, tempted to buy a different caldendar in the sales to open in January!

Day 24, Le Labo Another 13, 15ml, £65

In 2010, Le Labo was commissioned by AnOther Magazine to work on an exclusive scent, and so this hypnotising and unique fragrance was born. Composed of ambroxan, a synthetic animal musk, for an addictive edge and 12 other ingredients including jasmine, moss and ambrette seeds absolute, this clean, fresh fragrance is easy to wear but hard to forget.

Le Labo is my favourite fragrance house and this was my main justification for getting this calendar. I already have Another 13 in the large size but delighted to have the 15ml for my gym bag and travel. Other perfumes I have are Santal 33 (my go to daily scent), The Noir (deliciously seductive) and The Matcha (my sweet and cozy scent).

I quite like this as I find it light. In my other calendar I got the Matcha 26 - quite funny opening both drawers this morning for almost the same items!

Those of you who have had products tampered with, so you not want a refund and a new calendar? I would not use anything that had been opened.

Empty drawer day for me but we knew this was coming so H put in some sweets and a mini bottle of brandy. Tbh I’m finding that more useful right now as I try to get through the mountain of jobs ahead of tomorrow 😂

@Walnutwhipsarenothesame unfortunately a replacement wasn’t an option as they’d sold out. I’m in two minds what to do with the used items as I hate to see things go to waste but there are some things, lipstick highlighter, that I would worry about using.
