Current Makeup trends

Wondering how I can make my everyday makeup more 'current'. I still like a matte skin look with a swipe of blush, but tend to go heavier on my eyes with liquid liner on my top lid, sometimes pencil on the bottom or I leave it bare. Black mascara top and bottom. I also wear eyeshadows.
I wonder sometimes if this is too much for the day time? I see a lot of people have gone more natural with their looks, is that right?

Hardly anyone I know wears makeup now but I do still as I enjoy putting it on. I don't know about trends but I tend to stick to the same routine everyday, maybe add eyeshadow if going out.

It depends, a lot of people are going hard in on skincare and want their makeup to look like "real" skin, so use a lighter foundation or BB cream with maybe a little concealer.

I used to hate my freckles so always wore a very full coverage foundation but now use Trinny BFF which just sort of evens out my skin tone and add a shit ton of concealer under my eyes as they are black and purple.
I was also pushed into this as I have vitiligo on my face and mixed with the freckles the heavier foundation just went orange in the white areas and looked odd. Took a bit of adjustment but I'm used to it now, and a heavier makeup feels odd and settles in my many expression lines in my forehead lol.

I use a lot of blusher, not all at once but it's my favourite makeup product. I like to do it quite high and I to my temple at the minute, it's quite lifting.

I like to do a good eye look if I have time, but always wear some sort of eyeshadow. I line my upper lids and tightline the upper lash line.
I dont do the lower inner rim as I think it does look dated, but I will smoke out some eyeshadow below the eye.

I'm 41 for reference, but do what you like to do, there's enough makeup looks around for everyone. Take a bit of this and a bit of that and see what you enjoy. Just remember ALL (OK 99.999999%) makeup tutorials on the Internet have filters on them, real skin has pores, real people haven't time to put lashes on off camera.

If you aren't happy with your makeup have a play about and change it. If you are happy then keep on being fabulous

I think yes a more natural look is in,
(Unless you are on love island 😂)

Even skin tone, some eyeliner and mascara re fine but heavy top lids aren't necessary.

Lips can be bolder if less on eyes

What I noticed is shiny skin, defined eyebrows still, no make up make up look. Rosey glow, pink lips eyelids and cheeks. Eyeliner is very subtle, in brown and maybe just tightlined.
I see that the lips, overlined and lip gloss finish is more of a feature than eyes so I don't see much heavy eye make up instead it's subtle eyes and pouty lips or overly made up lips with dark lip liner. Skin almost oily looking from shine.

I almost always wear tinted moisturiser, slightly flicky browny grey eyeliner on the top only, browny black mascara on the top only, and some kind of lipstick, often matte and red. I do wear eyeshadow occasionally and for some reason more often in winter. This is a complete turn-around from what I wore until I was about 50, when I preferred smoky eye make-up and was a bit scared of strong lipstick colours. It's possible one of my influences was my 20-something niece, who favours the same eyeliner and mascara look, but doesn't usually wear lipstick. If so, maybe I have unconsciously become "trendy" because she's so young, that style may well be considered trendy among the younger generation for all I know. But it suits me and I like it.
